Wayne trades weber for Kessel and voracek, then trades Kessel to serge with a late pick for Kane. Serge gets better than he hoped for, Arp gets his deal and Wayne gets Voracek and a 1st for free. Lol.

I heard he's over in Ireland securing a gun deal with the Irish.

I'd have to look into it, but that looks more like a modern LRT system than a streetcar, but they're very similar. I don't think that's next to the curb, I think it's in its own right of way.

That's the kind of project your golden boy Ford cancelled with Transit City. Would have been amazing for this city. Scarborough would be a year or two away from at least 2 new lines, maybe 3.

Serge, so you think that one is ok, right?

Would you be ok with Toronto closing off a large stretch of King or Queen entirely to cars to dedicate it to LRT and an expanded pedestrian/cycling realm? That's basically what that is. The reason Toronto's streetcars continue to run in mixed traffic is because there are no rights of way left that we hadn't given over to cars as priority one.

If one street like King were allowed to run streetcars exclusively, with signal priority at all but the most important intersections (like University and Yonge and Jarvis or something), we would be able to move a lot more people through that corridor, which would free up some space elsewhere. Maybe you loose streetcars from Dundas or something.

Just a thought. There's massive demand for new streetcar capacity in this city, and we can't do anything about it while they run in mixed traffic.

Doesn't this look a lot like the picture above?

And remember, the only reason we didn't get these new modern streetcars faster is because Toronto refused to fund transit as much as it needed in the past, so they had to keep refurbishing the old ones, well past their useful life cycle. And they're refurbishing them AGAIN because of how delayed the investment was and because the original plan was to kill off the articulated streetcars, but demand is too high to take them out of service first, as we replace the old ones with the new.

That's actually a good one. And ok with that idea.

I think it was a bad idea to throw money at the old street cars. Don't care whose fault it is.

I guess I'm against mixed traffic.

I don't know. I'm not sold on the idea of streetcars. Maybe because I hate the current ones. But like you say the newer ones in dedicated areas woukd be beneficial to all.

It's ok Serge, all of us transit riders are against mixed traffic streetcars too, it's just that it's the best (only) solution given the resources we currently have.

We'd all prefer to have our own rights of way, but it costs money to build them, it costs political will/support because of how hard it is to take space away from drivers, even if they're in the minority in the areas where they'd lose the space. It's cost prohibitive to put everything in tunnels, etc.

Good separated streetcars are basically dumbed down LRT lines... the biggest difference being slightly larger stop spacing, giving them a bit more of a rapid transit feel, rather than purely local service you get from "streetcars". Also, signal priority is key, otherwise you get serious bunching like you see on Spadina.

Wow, so even Arp's thread has turned into a transit discussion!
When I go to a fast food restaurant, and my order comes to $6.28, I like to give the cashier $18.71. They look at me and say 'What's this?' and I say 'I'm all in'. They usually fold.

btw, Dublin is great.
I cant recall what I told you guys, but after making my booking for a 36hour layover on the way back from a work trip in Italy, my buddy Rob(who Zach has met+Serge knows) took the opportunity to book himself a 3.5day trip to Dublin to meet up with me. I changed my itinerary to make my time 48hours, then our friend Armen heard and used his points to fly over with Rob.

We saw the Guinness plant, and based on some of the basic "how to drink Guinness" info, I suddenly had a new appreciation. They say you have to pour+drink it right to truly get a good one, and they may be right, because I have never enjoyed more than 1 before this trip. This one? Endless. Also, Irish Whiskey. Very nice.

A lot of drinking, a lot of meeting random people from Ireland or other places, and a lot of good talks with great friends. So happy to have been able to see Dave too.

Fantasy teams not doing so well.
But in brighter news, I saw a guy with a sweet Whalers toque on the other day, so, you know, long live the Whalers.
