I think Schultz is an ass for turning his back on the Ducks and looking for opportunity elsewhere.I think Jordan Staal is awesome for coming to Carolina.

I'm sure you saw, but Jordan got 10 years, 60 million, and will be an alternate captain in Carolina.

I just want to know, who came up with this 10years 60mil first? Is it just a massive coincidence that Pit offered that, got turned down, and then Jordan signed the exact same term and dollars?

Eh, seems like the proper amount/term to me. Maybe you'd wanna go shorter or something, but then you prolly get stuck paying him a lot more when he explodes after this season.

So what is the "loophole" that Schultz used? Seems more like, 'you have x years to sign an entry-level deal or you become a free agent.' Which isn't some weird loophole, just a gaping wide opening. I'm surprised more players don't use it, especially high picks. What am i missing?
Long signatures are really annoying.

Has to do with age too, he was too old to re-enter the draft.

I'm glad He picked Edmonton, but if I had my choice of 30 NHL cities, I'm definitely not choosing to live in Edmonton, and I grew up in Alberta.Ironically, Anaheim would be on my short list..
