black friday, Full tilt, divorce etc. That's the gist, I'm sure someone else could explain in much more detail.I think that was said more in jest though. He has $15mil in debt according to his divorce proceedings, but I think (again, could be wrong, there's so much about black friday/ivey/scandal/poker going down the tube etc that I've just started glancing over stories now) that means more that he owes $15m, it's not that he has -$15m in his bank account. I assume if he wanted to play this event, he could (but he might not due to boycotting WSOP etc).Again, take all this with a pinch of salt, not 100% up to date on the accurate facts

Chan was born in southern China to mainland parents. I would be willing to bet he's fluent in Mandarin.Cobalt's also correct that Macau is Cantonese speaking. But Chan lived in Hong Kong for a time, so I'd bet he'd know Cantonese. Actually I just read that the province Chan was born in mainly speaks Cantonese, so he's probably fluent in it at least.And actually, the learning curve between between the two isn't too sharp, with a decent amount of shared vocabulary, and the same grammar structure. There's still learning to be done, but it's certainly easier to learn one after learning the other.
