defending small blind

Since the tables at the site I play at are often tight, there are often blind steal attempts or plays where it is folded to the blinds. I'm a little uncertain about both of these situations, so I'll post some hands and see what people think.$1/$2 FullTiltPreflop: econ_tim6 folds, Button raises, econ_tim 1 fold, Button calls.Flop: (7 SB) [3d Kh Jc]econ_tim calls.Turn: (5.5 BB) [4s]econ_tim calls.River: (7.5 BB) [2h]econ_tim calls.Final pot: 9.5 BBPreflop, I thought I was probably better that the Button and I didn't want the BB sticking around.On the flop, I just call his raise because he's only ahead with AK or KJ (he's not a Krablar player) and the rest of his holdings make him far behind. So I might as well let him keep betting.So I guess this hand isn't too hard, but I welcome suggestions.

I would have 3 bet the flop. Your play on the flop looks like a bet from Ax that missed.I would have check raised the turn.I would have re-raised the river.

I thought it might be best to be passive in these kinds of HU situations. If I 3 bet or C/R, then he will fold if he has nothing but call if he can beat me. If I'm passive, he might keep betting an inferior hand.

Being passive is good but if you are going to follow that line atleast re-raise the river.I don't know where this he will fold if he has nothing and call if he has me beat thing came from but that's just not the truth. I have plenty of hand histories of people calling me when I re-raised and they were dead to 1 out. Showing no aggression although is good to mix up your play it also can cost you the hand when someone *would* have folded but since you didn't make them they drew out on you and now you go from taking down a decent pot to losing it all.

IMO:Preflop- goodflop- decentturn- C/Rriver- Betthis will get you one mor bet in, if you check down you might lose more if he does not play agressively. Then again I'm not a limit hold'em expert so I'd like someone to correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you need to 3-bet that flop, to (try to) see if he indeed has Ace King, K J, pocket 3's, or pocket jacks/kings (definately unlikely based on pre-flop play). You will either win it there, or if he calls, I think you jsut check/call it down. :wink:
