tourney vs. single table...

Well, I was getting in some cheap practice last night so I decided to play some free roll...I wanted to play a bit but not give it too much attention.Here's what I noticed, and correct me if I'm wrong here...Good players in freeroll games are much better off in Tourneys than at single tables.It just seems like even more so than I would expect, freerollers play like maniacs on single tables, so much that it's not even worth sitting in at one. However, after about 1/2 of the way through a tournament, you actually get down to some decent poker (though not always...sometimes it takes longer...)Anyone else noticed this?

Freerolls, as well as low buyin tourneys are all crapshoot's in the beginning. A lot of people will try to double and triple up immediately so that they dont waste 3 hrs playing a short stack. Just pick your spots and bet big when youve got a hand, some maniac will usually call....

Yeah, I see where you're coming from...As Rhinestone mentioned, online Freeroll tourneys (and for that matter low buy-ins) are Maniacville for the first hour or so (where roughly half the field will be eliminated. Yes, there's good poker on the back end... but you had better build your stack so you can play in that "good poker" during Maniac hour.p2
