They aren't televising any circuit events any longer but they're still being played and the only events from the WSOP in Las Vegas they're showing is the $50K tonight, the TOC Freeroll and the Main Event.

Hopefully the other new WSOP will be better. These two weren't that entertaining.The revamped WSOP Circuit is gonna be great! The $1,500 Main Event structure is fantastic! Longer levels as you get deeper into the tourney is a really cool idea to do for a live tourney. just caught a replay event #2 FT.... it was disgusting how lucky Mizrachi appeared to be heads up. Every hand they showed for the final 15 was him spiking the turn or river to come out ahead. Not a very good showing for the luck vs skill argument imo.

Mizrachi got lucky, but I imagine he's had plenty of times when he's been unlucky.On a related note (and this is nothing against the specific person who said it), I think "It's good for poker because <insert lameass reason here>" is kind of retarded. I mean, poker is a smashing success, so why do we need big names who have already won piles of money to keep winning? It's entirely likely that a lot of people (Jamie Gold, Jerry Yang, etc, I'm looking at you...) won when they didn't "deserve" it and there are sooooo many excellent poker players out there we've never heard of because they never won anything big, and plenty of hard luck stories from seasoned pros who haven't won a bracelet, etc...I think it doesn't matter who wins. Poker will abide.

I may be wrong here, but I don't think it has anything to do with the success of poker. If that were the case, we'd all be rooting for a donk to win every year, that way Joe Blow at his local 1/2 game will think he has a shot at making mirrons playing poker. Bad player on TV doing idiotic things at the table usually results in more bad players jumping in the waters.I think the benefit of having someone like Mizrachi win, who is considered a pro, is all about the luck vs. skill argument.Like I said though, I might be wrong. Oh, I get ya..."Better for poker" = more fish in the pond...Count me in!At the same time, I tend to think any given situation has a boatload of luck vs skill. I kind of view poker like a cross between golf and being a Japanese Daimyo from the 16th Century: If you minimize your errors and capitalize off other people's mistakes while exploiting weakness and creating an image of non-aggression while pursuing your target without mercy, you should do rather well.

I get that ESPN tries to appeal to the general public and not just poker fans and players (which is why they show NL events and make the 50K 8 game final table NL).If that is the case, is it really necessary to put "HJ" "UTG" "+1" ... etc on the graphic next to the hole cards and players last names. I just had to explain to a whole room of people what that meant and it took like 30 minutes. **** you ESPN. If you aren't going to show 8 game then don't try to explain what "under the gun" means.

Is it just me or is this season of the WSOP really bad thus far? It is one thing that they trimmed the events shown, but I look forward to watching it generally and have found this year lacks something and comes off as very stale. Chad's jokes seem even weaker than usual and the hands have by and large not been overly interesting (although Mizrachi's heads up was interesting). I have been very disappointed thus far.
