Chad Ford:The Blazers got close to a deal with the Hornets last week that would've sent Andre Miller, Joel Przybilla, Nicolas Batum, Jerryd Bayless and the 22nd pick to NO for Paul before Jeff Bower pulled out of the deal saying that their owner wasn't ready to trade Paul. The trade they made on draft night got them out of the luxury tax, so that's no longer the issue. The issue is whether Paul is now unhappy enough to force a trade. Personally I think the Hornets can do better than that for Paul, but it's a viable deal.Chris Paul, Brandon Roy, and Lamarcus Aldridge isn't a bad big three. And if Oden ever figures it out...

So the Suns will sign Hakim Warrick and Channing Frye, which means they will have to renounce their rights to Amare, which means they can't arrange a sign and trade.Then the Suns will trade Steve Nash to the Lakers for Odom.Ok, I made that last part up, but what a bloodbath this off-season is.

Interesting. At the end of the day, I think Lebron surprisingly stays in Cleveland, Bosh goes to Chicago, Stoudamire and someone else (Felton?) to Miami, and New York and Jersey get screwed (though I think the Nets can land Carmelo next year).Also, I believe Cleveland will try (unsuccessfully) to trade for Chris Paul.

Reports out now are that Amare to the Knicks is pretty much a done deal.Edit: I think LeBron ends up with the Nets. The Nets trade away the contract of Kris Humphries and that gives them enough cap space for another max level free agent to come along with him.

I still think Bosh will end up in Miami. I think Lebron is either Chicago or Cleveland. If Chicago strikes out, they need to not panic and rollover their cap space for Carmelo next year. I actually think Melo would be a good fit for Chicago.

JJJ, like that point on the bulls. Melo is great for them. Bob, if that is true (and seriously how many "done deals" have we heard), Amare is a bigger jackass than I thought. What a terrible idea for him unless Lebron goes too.I can't see Lebron playing in f-ing Newark for two years.

I'll be very disappointed if Melo doesn't sign an extension and becomes a free agent next year.

Well Amare isn't a brain surgeon.The Nets is Newark for 2 years and then Brooklyn with one of the richest men in the World as the owner and his good buddy Jay Z. Plus the Nets have some pretty decent pieces in place already player wise. I read that earlier; good stuff.Why do we think the Nets have decent pieces in place? They were on pace almost all year to set the record for fewest wins in a season ever. There's nothing decent about that. Devin Harris and Brook Lopez seem like decent pieces because the rest of the Nets were such a disaster and somebody had to get the points and rebounds, right?

Devin Harris really took a step back last year but you can't write him off yet. Brook Lopez is actually really good, very solid center. So that means the Nets are above average or better at the 1 and the 5 which are the hardest positions to fill. So that is pretty good. Otherwise, their roster is a disaster.

It could kill the franchise for a decade. I am stunned by this. Wade was the one guy everyone agreed would not bail because he has already won a ring in Miami, Pat Riley is good, and they have money to build a good team around him even if they need a few minimum guys. I still don't believe Wade would show this little loyalty to a franchise that got him a championship unlike Lebron or Bosh or Melo. But I guess I have to accept this might happen. Sucks.

I thought I heard something about an issue over custody of his kids, who live in Chicago. I mean, this could be the one situation where it's not about money or loyalty.
