I feel terrible for the ump (Joyce?) that blew the perfect game. Sure, it sucks a lot for the pitcher...sucks a LOT for the pitcher, I guess, since he probably lost out on his only chance to be a legitimate part of baseball history, but at least he can sleep well knowing he really should have had a perfect game and has gone a long way towards solidifying his position in the majors. Joyce not only has to deal with feeling terrible for blowing that call, but the fallout that's going to come from it.

Nothing better than watching a perfect game but no one will know it because of a ridic blow call. Oh well, I know Galalalalalarararafagaga threw a perfect game tonight.

Just awful. Jim Joyce, by all accounts one of the better umps, will now always be known for this and this alone. Punishment fits the crime I guess. Galaragga showed a lot of class in how he handled it.

God damn softball, I missed this. I had multiple friends calling me to tell me of the outrage. On a semi-related note, one of my friends is named Jim Joyce, and he has always proudly accepted the umpire comparison. He was at softball with me, and had trouble comprehending how bad a call someone of his namesake could really make. After my 6th text and 3rd phone call, he started to get some grasp of it, but I wonder if my Jim Joyce will ever be the same.
