We all expected Kovalchuk but the Phaneuf trade came out of nowhere?
Is there another Phaneuf like trade out there?

I think Demitra gets traded cuz Vancouver will never get more value than now.
I think the Leopold acquisition might lead to Goligiski or Gonchar being traded.

Too bad Team Slovakia doesnt play in the Eastern Conference, the Canucks could get a boatload for him.
Where do you think Turco goes?
Im hoping Chicago doesnt trade for a goalie, I have Huet in one of my pools.
Agree with you about Pitt/Leopold....Im guessing its Goligoski, if they get what they think he is worth.

Huet
Versteeg
Crawford
for
Vokoun
Seidenberg
it got sort of quashed a little, but I think Chicago would jump all over that.

I think Florida would be crazy to make that trade.

In a heartbeat. They have no need for Crawford and a very big need to move Huet and Versteeg, and Vokoun is the big game goalie that they badly need to make a run at the Cup this year.
That said, I don't see Florida taking on Huet and his salary. They're trying to rid themselves of bad contracts, not take more on.

Here's the thing with any Chicago deal....they need to shed salary/Huet. What team would take Huet?
I honestly believed the Leafs would have been a good destination for Huet til they got Giggy.
Versteeg+Huet for a player like Poni. Essentially, a salary dump for Chicago, Leafs get Versteeg, a real Burke type.

Honestly, I dont think Florida has any bad contracts. I dont see anyone who is grossly overpaid on that team.
I think they are trying to get rid of certain attitudes or players, for whatever reason.

Even in a salary dumb, that isn't enough of a return to Chicago. I think the Florida deal could work out, but Chicago would have to sweeten it significantly. At minimum add another good prospect and a 2nd.

That Olesz deal is pretty bad, but I guess that's the only real eyesore. Everyone else is pretty in-line.

Meh, it was a rotoworld update, that was logged under Savard. On review, it doesn't even mention him, they just needed a Boston player to log it under. I hate it when they do that!
Unless they also pick up about $5 million.
That wouldn't be a bad idea. Boston would love a legit top-6 forward or two that Chicago can't afford (Versteeg?).
