eh. I dont love it. Im not big on Picard.
I think its a great pickup for Ottawa, he will be a really nice 2nd/3rd line guy for them.

i m not sure..I think you got a good dman who is an RFA so salary will be good...
Cullen is a 33 year old UFA who has only 12 goals..Good guy though.
I am hoping this means we get the same if not more for Pony...

I think we got someone who might have a good salary, but not necessarily a good D-man.
I would have preferred just one of those, either a better propect or a better pick.
Cullen will produce in Ottawa, book it.

The buzz is that Pony might be heading for Buffalo, but I'm not sure I buy it. Can't see Toronto and Buffalo trading within the division for a player that actually matters (ie: Not Dominic Moore).

This from my cousin in Montreal last night....
Dominic Moore! OOOOO!!! big improvement. Actually the rumour is Frolov to Montreal for either Weber, D'Agostini or maybe Lapierre. Just what the doctor ordered, another big lazy russian talent/enigma.
I love the last line. Frolov really does remind me a lot of Kovalev in some ways.

If you wanted a better prospect, Carolina needed to make that deal with basically any team other than Ottawa. They're the Whalers of the NHL when it comes to farm depth.

Don't like the deal for Ottawa, but seems like 2nd-rounders are being bandied about more easily than usual this year. I guess scouts don't love the guys who'll be available in the 50-65 range.

why would either team care about trading in their division? These are two teams in vastly different stages of development, no?
And if your the Leafs, you trade with ANYONE when your dumping FA's.
My personal belief.....limiting your market in trading is the best way to never get any better.

I go for quality, not quantity my friend.

Update: Brad May has been put on waivers by Detroit. Another player will likel be put on long term disability to make room on the roster for Lilja.

Guess they got no takers for Jason Williams then. Without looking I would think they send Meech down. He is pretty invisible out there. Wonder if he is on a one way.
So now they are speculating that Kronwall goes on Long Term and Lebda or Meech get traded because I don't think waiving May and IR'ing Kronwall gets the $ part done for Lilja. Weird. Plus, why bring Lilja up for one game before the break. Makes no sense but whatever. We need to trade for a goalie who can win a shootout since neither Howard or Osgood can get that part done.

You watch, somehow Hudler is going to rejoin the Wings right after the FCHL season ends.
Speaking of him, was he declared ineligible for international play or did he truly just not make the Czech team?

I thought there was some issue with him not getting a transfer card from the IIHF after leaving the NHL and going to Moscow which prohibits him from playing in any international tournament. Haven't paid that much attention to him.
