It's the most recent movie to be included in the AFI top 100. What movie(s) made since 1996 do you think should now be included in a revised list?

That list sucks.
AFI always does. I've never been even mildly impressed with any list they release.

There are a lot of recent movies that I'd replace movies on that list with personally, but Avatar and all 3 LOTR movies should definitely be included in any Top 100.

Fargo was removed from the 2007 list.

The list really is pure shit. Who had the idea to knock off phenomenal films like The Third Man and add in commercial chickenfeed like Titanic and LOTR? Their other lists are also terrible. Schindler's List at #3 for most inspiring films? That film makes me so depressed everytime I watch it. Do they really think the accomplishment of Schindler saving a tiny proportion of Jews outweights the horrifying and devastating number that did perish in the Holocaust? Sure, Schindler's story can be considered inspiring, but the film Schindler's List certainly isn't , and it's not supposed to be. It's not an uplifting film. It is made clear that Schindler is no saint, and that at the end of the day we can't forget about the magnitude of the genocide that occurred. He says it himself - he could have done more, he could have saved more. The message isn't of hope. It's a despicable, harrowing tragedy. Inspirational? No sir.

Yet you didn't name one.
I can't be bothered with specifics. Then I'd have to actually look at the list and stuff. I just trusted the people who said it's a bad list, then thought about how many movies have come out since then.... then came to my number semi randomly. :club:

I went and reviewed the movies of the decade thread here to get my start.I feel like these two are the only ones that I say belong on a top 100 list (but I haven't seen the actual AFI list):
No Country for Old MenInglorious Basterds
For other people's research, here are some "name" films from 1997-1998:Good Will HuntingLA ConfidentialTitanicBoogie NightsCon AirSaving Private RyanThe Thin Red LineAnd then there's 1999...
I wasn't kidding about 1999 btw.. check out this list..No order, except John malk number 11) Being John Malkovitch2)Fight club3) American beauty4) The matrix5) run lola run6) magnolia7) bringing out the dead8) 3 kings9) the sixth sense10) blair witch11) the summer of sam12) eyes wide shut13) red violin14) Cruel intentions ( i'm a sucker for this film)15) Dogma16) boys don't cry 17) Election18) Ghost dog19) Girl interrupted20) toy story 2(also green mile, the insider, the straight story, drop dead gorgeous and some others)
I suppose I'd have to actually look at the AFI list to start making changes, but the consensus seems to be that the list sucks, so it would probably be a time-consuming project. And I hate time-consuming projects.
