It goes to Essays point about the media trying to show everyone is against Trump on this.

I think a large percentage of people are against both Trump using his bully pulpit and athletes kneeling for the anthem.

And the Russillo audience is probably the perfect example for the average NFL fan. White males ages 20-40?

I also find the notion that this is somehow going to hurt the NFL ridiculous. I simply don't buy that any existing NFL fan is simply going to stop watching or going to games because players take a knee.

You don't think black people like the NFL? Don't use attendance stats to paint your picture. I think the NBA and the NFL is highly watched by black viewers. I could be wrong.

Essay, where I think you are off is in assuming there isn't a huge problem in the police culture

I don't think cops have meetings to go out and kill people. Nobody does. It's a red herring. But there is a culture where blacks are definitely policed differently than whites, as a whole

Not blaming whites completely either. Lot of blacks do themselves no favor

By culture do you mean how black people are treated after they come in to contact with police, as in police treat the individual different or police strategy focusing on crime rates and utilizing that data to focus patrols is different?

I wasn't trying to imply anything based on those callers. I just read Essays comment regarding the media painting a picture of everyone against Trump on this and found it interesting that all four callers sided with him in their distaste for the players kneeling during the anthem. Obviously black people are looking at the issue through a different prism than a mostly white Russillo audience.

Jemele Hill, the hostess of the 6pm SC, called Trump and everyone working in the white house white supremacists. She was not disciplined by ESPN. I'm sure Curt Shilling got a chuckle out of that.

Alejandro Villanueva, the ex-Army Ranger who did a tour in Afghanistan, and was the lone Steeler who came out for the anthem has the best selling jersey and t-shirt NFL wide. I would say that money can do a lot of talking. It's much louder than what the media says. Things like this protest are definitely going to help Trump win reelection. (which is very unfortunate)

If money does indeed talk (and I would agree that it does), shouldn't we then at least mention that Kaepernick has been among the top jersey/merchandise sales for almost an entire year?

The guy isn't even on a team right now and he's ranked No. 39 on the NFLPA's official NFL merchandise Top 50 list.

I would say both, but I could only produce data to prove systemic racism after they come in contact with police.

There is also data that shows blacks use drugs at the same rate or less than whites but go to jail for it at twice the rate. Then there is the data that shows they get charged stronger and harsher sentences than whites, so yeah, I guess I could produce data to prove both

Come on man, be better than this. Jemele Hill wrote that and was told not to do it again. She hasn't. Curt Schilling was warned multiple times to knock it off and then was a recidivist. He pushed his luck one too many times and got fired. HUGE difference. Not apples to apples

As far as the steelers guy, read this thread. He says he screwed up and supports his teammates

Man, I hate that dude. Seriously.

This was posted from national conservative radio guys facebook:

"If you challenged Trump in the primary and lost, like the team I was on did, you recognize what's happening here. Because it's a mistake all of us made to some degree, and paid for.

Trump on his own, is a terrible politician. A loathsome, narcissistic, uninformed Peter Pan caricature. A con man who often gets caught with his knickers down talking out both sides of his mouth all the while saying nothing at all.

But, give him a straw man to play off of and he's the last Son of Krypton. Thankfully for Trump, when he rattled his zipper the NFL protest culture decided to dutifully come hither.

Because while even most Trump voters think he's nuts and/or dishonest, they are way more (and rightfully) FED UP with this crap. FED UP with everybody that doesn't want America to be California or Manhattan is a racist or fascist. That everyone who wants to conserve America's heritage -- warts and all -- is a white supremacist. FED UP that if you don't agree with MSNBC's primetime lineup, you're a bigot.

Only 1 in 4 NFL fans makes $100,000 or more a year. But the average NFL player makes about $2 million per year. And THE LAST THING the average fan, living paycheck to paycheck, wants to be called by those they see as pampered athletes (whose salary they're helping to pay) is a freaking racist for wanting the anthem respected.

So Brian Kilmeade is right, when he said on Fox this morning that Trump's comments just made it worse. For if the goal was to move beyond this, Trump definitely did make it worse. The silly kneeling had played itself out.

However, if the goal was to score political points -- Trump is winning IN A ROUT. Just look at me, for example. I recognized right away Trump was throwing chum in the water, hoping to see if anyone would take the bait. I recognize this is all a diversion from the fact he's keeping basically none of his promises. But when the Left uses their platforms to respond by attacking what folks like me believe, I have no choice but to respond and defend my values despite the fact Trump is conning us all.

Goodness, you even have Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin now criticizing one of his players, who did 3 tours of active duty in the Middle East, for coming out for the National Anthem. I don't care who you are or your politics, you NEVER criticize someone who was willing to give his life for you for his reverence for his country. NEVER. EVER. Regardless of Trump, or anything else. That's the heights of tone-deaf arrogance, and the best GOTV that Trump could hope to have.

Heck, that commercial alone would win Pennsylvania for Trump again all by itself.

Until the Left decides winning elections is more important than tenure at Berkeley or praise from the 6 pm. SportsCenter very few people watch, they're going to keep losing to Trump."

Brvy, our sitting president called players that respectfully and peacefully took a stand for something they believe in, sons of bitches.

Why do people of color, people on the left, always have to be the bigger people and ignore the attacks? Should they have done nothing?

Also, if Obama did 1/10th of what Trump has said, done and tweeted, do you honestly think the right wouldn't have fully exploded by now? False equivalencies can't be used here. We are dealing with an unprecedented madman, the loosest of cannons.

Did you see that tweet he made about Iran setting off a ballistic missle the other day and then shitting on Iran? It was old footage. He was fooled by Fox News. I mean, I just can't anymore. 6 Trump advisors have now been caught using personal email acts to do govt business. Where is their outrage?

I know you don't like him, but your side sure does. That article is kind of blaming the people for taking Trump's bait. Why not blame the person chumming the waters for the shark bite, not the swimmer?

Ok, I'm done. Bed time. Sorry for the rant

I think the NFL needs a rule mandating that if you are on the field during the national anthem you stand, hand over heart, facing the flag. Just take that part out and move on with life.

Hopefully that would be the end of this.
