I don't think I would fold this without a read on the opponent. I've seen too many people at this level play any 8 like it's the nuts.

at PLO I have kind of the opposite approach: until I have a read on someone, I'll assume he's not moving in lightly and he can appropriately value hands (i.e most players will play trips passively) maybe I shouldn't do that at the micros, but it certainly looks like most of these players are nut peddlers. At NLHE obviously the approach should be totally different as most players cannot value hands, don't have a clue as to what they're doing, and they're willing to stack off very light not even knowing sometimes that they're bluffing. But PLO seems so different, as most of the player pool knows that in a game of 4 cards caution should be taken. This guy for example hadn't been involved in many big pots. He struck me as having that prototypical loose passive style, lots of calling and not much raising (but to be fair I didn't know with even like 83% certainty because I had been multi-tabling). Regardless I had been at the table for quite a while, at least 30 mins, and he hadn't gotten out of line. Neither one of us, I guess, were playing my hands as we only had one confrontation to the river I'd continue in this hand...If villain were spewy (obviously)If villain were good and aggressive (against an aggressive solid player I'm just never folding here)orIf I felt villain could handread and put me on AA. only hand im worried about is k's filling out but i don't think i fold here, we have the best possible 8 i think we stack off here or we miss value betting all the weak 8's out there

even bad players assume you have AAxx and think their 8 is the nuts. its not really handreading, they just figure you have AA like they figure you have AK when you raise in holdem. thing is, if he's nut peddling, you still beat a ton of his range. KKxx doesnt call the flop, and he's not playing many 22xx hands or slowplaying them when he does. his limp pf also usually means he has a random 8 and not KKxxalso, we're OOP and dont have much going with our AAxx. i'd just complete and hope to see an A or some hearts or a flop like this one.
