I normally avoid everything I can about any movie I have the potential to see. I couldn't resist watching the trailer or reading the grantland article in this case because Cloud Atlas is one of my favorite books. I just can't imagine how they could make it into a movie and I still can't even after watching the trailer. Quite the ambitious undertaking to say the least. I'm not even sure why they would try to tell these stories on the big screen. The threads connecting the different stories are barely whispers in some cases and I don't think it will translate well.140 million dollar budget! I don't think there's any way this comes close to recouping the cost. I'm guessing it will gross 50mill world wide and 1/2 of that box office probably comes from the Tom Hanks star equity. I hope I'm wrong. I can think of quite a few books that probably already have screen plays and has been optioned by someone that would be more likely to make money. If you like to read and haven't read this book, it's totally worth it.

Haha... that looks awesome. I've never heard of the book, and knew nothing of the movie until JJJ's post. I watched the 6 minute trailer prior to reading the article, and I was thinking about The Tree of Life and The Fountain the entire time, so it's funny they mentioned both. I'll be there, with bells on.

ugh, I don't know. feel like there's way too many ways for them to screw that up and very very few ways they could do it well. or maybe my expectations are just going to be super high. but that scares me.

Peep Show is a British comedy on Netflix Instant Watch, and it is hilarious. I strongly suggest checking it out.

I can't even remember the last time I got up for a Spielberg movie...probably Saving Private Ryan if I'm being honest. Yes, I've seen a lot of his movies since then, but I wasn't standing in line at the theater or anything. DDL looks the tits as Lincoln though, it's uncanny.

I think the speilburg movie I was last really excited about was AI, because it was a Kubrick Homage. And I think AI is super underrated. I've liked many of his movies since then, but that's the last one I was really excited about.

That looks like the easy candidate for the best movie of all time award. I'm personally erect at the notion of being deemed worthy of a seat in the theater to enjoy all the grandiose splendor it has to offer me.

Why would I ever want to deny a fellow film enthusiast the sheer bliss of a PTA film? I think he and I should see it together, and hold hands.
