I'm sorry I'm even playing this, lol, still very hungover from last night and playing terribly...but anyway just had these two hands, butchered IMO, but curious to hear smart people's advice. Its the first round of the tourny, 4th and 6th hands actually, so I have no read on villains in either case. Please make comments clear about which hand/street/decision you are talking about, and thanks..Hand 1PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, 11 Tournament, 10/20 Blinds (9 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comMP2 (t3000)Hero (MP3) (t2970)CO (t3580)Button (t2400)SB (t2980)BB (t2980)UTG (t2420)UTG+1 (t1970)MP1 (t4700)Hero's M: 99.00Preflop: Hero is MP3 with A :ts, J :club:4 folds, Hero bets t55, 1 fold, Button calls t55, 1 fold, BB calls t35Flop: (t175) 7 :jh, A :D, 9 :ts (3 players)BB checks, Hero bets t120, Button raises to t300, 1 fold, Hero calls t180Turn: (t775) 6 :4h (2 players)Hero checks, Button bets t380, Hero calls t380River: (t1535) 8 :D (2 players)Hero checks, Button checksTotal pot: t1535Hand 2PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, 11 Tournament, 10/20 Blinds (9 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comUTG+1 (t3000)Hero (MP1) (t2235)MP2 (t3580)MP3 (t3230)CO (t2970)Button (t2915)SB (t2400)BB (t1970)UTG (t4700)Hero's M: 74.50Preflop: Hero is MP1 with Q :5c, A :3h2 folds, Hero bets t55, 3 folds, Button calls t55, SB calls t45, BB calls t35Flop: (t220) Q :club:, 9 :4h, 5 :D (4 players)SB checks, BB bets t60, Hero calls t60, Button calls t60, SB calls t60Turn: (t460) 5 :qh (4 players)SB checks, BB bets t200, Hero calls t200, Button calls t200, SB calls t200River: (t1260) 6 :D (4 players)SB checks, BB bets t600, Hero calls t600, Button calls t600, 1 foldTotal pot: t3060

Hand 1 IPITS, although I think you are probably not going to win the hand.Hand 2, raise somewhere please. I raise the flop, but as played to the turn raise turn. River call is fine.

Flops are kind of like vagina's. The wetter they are, the harder you hit them.

Hand 1, out of curiosity, what would be the most you would be willing to call on river if villain bet it?Hand 2, agreed.

previous posts sum it up pretty well. Hand 1 is played, but you want to fold flop or turn against nits. Hand 2, raise the flop.

I actually think I'm c/f river in Hand 1. When you are the PFR and your cbet gets raised on an Ace high flop, unless villain is either a great or a terrible player, this means that he at least has an Ace. On the flop its still possible for you to have the best Ace so I'm not folding yet, but by the river he'd have to have A2-A4 for you to be ahead. The only other hand he might raise flop with is a FD (or possibly a SD) but any of those has gotten there by the river. You beat nothing at this point so if he bets you have to fold. I'm not going to give an unknown credit for a sick triple barrel when you've pretty much advertised your hand as Ax.

Hand two, i raise bigger preflop in a 9 max 60ish to 75ish to try and protect my hand a little more because we are acting so early you gave the blinds great odds to come along after someone flatted, im raising that flop all day to isolate that is a micro bet by him pump it up with like a 3/4 pot bet, should leave you heads up with BB and makes it eaiser to milk the later streets.

+1 check fold is a good line we basically can only catch A10 or air by the time we are at the river

I'd play the first hand the same way too. What did the villain have? 7-9?Check behind on the river seems pretty passive unless he was putting you on a flush draw.As for the second hand, you already know the answer. Raise the flop. Did villain have 5? Why did you play it so passively?
