cujo33 0
I have my FF draft tonight. This really will be my first draft. Just wanted to know what a good strategy would be. Should I take a RB in the first two rounds? If alot of WR's are going in the second round should I pick up one, or just go with my 2nd RB? What round should I be looking at taking my QB? Thanks for any feedback.
outsider13 0
I've always drafted 2 RB first. There's just not enough quality running backs in the league. With that being said, if you can get a guy like Larry Fitzgerald after already securing a top RB, that's not so bad.
Yoda 1
Depends. What are the lineup requirements, how many teams, and what spot do you pick out of?RB/RB is no longer the best way to draft in a lot of scenarios, but you are drafting with people who don't pay too much attention you will probably still see almost all RB's going in both of the first 2 rounds. Fitz is a 1st round pick and AJ/Moss often are too. I've seen Megatron go in the first as well.
cujo33 0
Its a standard 10 team league, H2H scoring. And I won't know what my draft position is until I get into the draft.Starters are 1QB 2RB 1RB/WR 2WR 1TE 1D/ST 1K and 7 Bench.

If you pick in the top 5-6 spots you should probably go RB. If you pick in the 7-10 slots I'd personally go RB/WR or WR/RB depending on how the other picks go. There is a lot RB value in the 2nd-5th rounds this year with people like Ryan Grant, Pierre Thomas, Moreno, Wells etc dropping several rounds. So I think if you want to go stud WR's early, stud QB/TE early and wait a bit on RB, this is the year to do it. But you should know what you are doing...it's safer to go RB/WR/RB/WR/QB/TE

cujo33 0
Just got done with my draft for one of my FF leagues. New to drafting, so there were some picks that I wasn't happy with. TRB05 1
Probably too late for you, but the way I like to look at it is by predetermining "tiers" of each position. Most of the time there are 2 or 3 elite players at each position, and then there are about 7 or 8 guys that are close to the same value after that. When it is my turn I try to get the last guy of the highest tier left. So if there's 2 guys left in tier 2 for WR's, but 6 guys left in tier 3 of RB's then I will take the best WR with a RB in the same tier being likely to make it back to me. Kind of a simplistic look at it. Oh, and you must MUST keep track of the other team's picks so you know what they most likely will be taking in between your picks. This works especially well if you have like the 3rd or 4th pick and can really make a good guess on where those other teams will go.

cujo33 0
Yeah Turner went first. I took AP second.
Yoda 1
Strong looking team...though in a league with only 10 teams pretty much all the teams look strong :)But you should definitely be in the top half of the league in scoring. It looks like you took care of your studs early and waited on QB/TE but you still picked strong players with big upside at that position. It's a winning combination!AP has been slipping several spots in some drafts (particularly PPR) in which MJD, Turner, Forte all going before him semi-frequently.
cujo33 0
Thanks Yoda. I took my TE pretty late which I thought might have been a mistake.
Yoda 1
Thanks Yoda. I took my TE pretty late which I thought might have been a mistake. No I love the late round tight ends this year. You can get a lot of value/bargains by waiting. If Witten flies off the shelf too early and people start snatching up Gates, Gonzo, Clark....let em go. You are better off filling in your other positions and then later on take your pick out of Cooley, Winslow, Olsen, Keller, Zach Miller, Daniels...lot of upside in the middle tier TE's.I just wouldn't want to be one of the last to take my TE1 and get stuck with Shockey, Scaife, Shiancoe, Scheffler etc...All S-names how ironic
CaneBrain 97
Just had my "big" draft. (Law school league, $200 bucks per person....most of them are fantasy idiots) 10 teams, H2H, 1QB, 3WR, 2RB, 1TE, 2 flex, 1 kicker, 1 Def.It's a PPR league (point per reception) so receivers and running backs who catch passes have much added value (though not all the morons know that!). Also TD passes are worth 5 pts not 4. Everything else is standard. My team:QB: BreesRB(s): Westbrook, BushWR(s): Welker, TO, Hines WardTE: WittenFlex : 2 of this group: Anthony Gonzalez, Donald Driver, Kevin Walter, Kevin Faulk, Le'ron McClain, Laverneaus ColesK: Josh BrownDEF: Baltimore

Yoda 1
This trade shocked me when i first saw it.Send Stephen Gostkowski, and Mark ClaytonRecieve David Akers, and Knowshon MorenoThat's especially ridiculous considering Mason is back But a little ridiculous even if Clayton WAS the #1 receiver. For this year alone many are projecting Moreno to only do "so so" and all this holdout/missing camp stuff isn't helping his short term prospects. But I think Moreno will easily see 230-250 carries and rush for 1000.

(148) Brandon Pettigrew TEThat is about 8 picks later than Chris Johnson is usually going. He would be incredible value at 13 (and jackson is good value at 8). Everything else looks pretty standard. 33 for V. Jackson is pretty early. Bush would be an incredible value at 108.I like DeSean Jackson and think he would be good value at 93. Forte over Jackson maybe barely. Vikings and Steelers are equal. So, you would be benching Delhomme for Ryan, essentially adding nothing imo, and losing your TE with RB staying pretty much the same. I just don't see what that trade does for your team.
