I was playing $200NL Min/Max $3-$5 blinds at the Bike in LA. I have AQ Hearts on the button. A few people limp in so I make it $20 to go. Everyone folds but one dumb ass weak player. The flop comes J65 all hearts, I flopped the nut flush. The idiot pushes all-in for about $80 that he had left, of course I call. He flips over 73 of hearts and sure enough a 4 of hearts came on the river! I've been in so many hands where I will be drawing to 12+ outs on the flop and miss everything and these idiots hit there 1 outers on me. GO FIGURE...... Another horrible, I mean horrible beat that I witnessed: It was a $6-$12 limit game that I was watching while waiting for a seat to open in the NL section. This game has a bad beat jackpot on it where if you have Ace's full of 10's (or better) and lose you win the bad beat jackpot. The jackpot was $20,000. Losing had gets 50%; winning hand gets %25 and the table share 25%. HERE'S THE HAND: A few people limp in and the big blind makes it $12 to go with pocket Ace's (diamond and spade). Everyone that limped in calls. The flop comes Ah, Ac, 8h. The big blind checks with quads, one guy bets $6 another guy calls and the big blind raises and the other two players call. Turn comes 7h big blind bets out with quads, one player raises the other player calls and the big blind re-raises, both players call. River comes 6h, big blind bets, next player raises, next player re-raises, big blind re-re-raises, and the other player caps it. At this point everyone at the table is thinking that this is already a jackpot had because of the action on the river. The Big blind flips over the Quad Aces and the next player flips over the 10h,9h he hit his miracle nut straight flush, the next player flips over 5h,4h the bottom straight flush. The guy with the Quad Aces not only lost the pot but also didn't get the bad beat jackpot since the two qualifying hands were the straight flush over straight flush. The guy got F*%$ED. The guy with the Quads still did get a table share but that was only $625.But like they say: "That's Poker"........

I have no idea whether this is true or not (no offense just some of these things seem too amazing to be true...) but assuming it is...... that bad beat jackpot story is among the best I've ever heard. It's tempered, of course, by the fact that, as bad as it was, he pocketed $625 for it. But to not only lose the hand but not even qualify for the lion's share of the jackpot is stunning.Again, seems a little unlikely... and if I'm being had I'm being had... but wow... p2
Mike McDermott: Listen, here's the thing. If you can't spot the sucker in the first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker.

I know it sounds too BAD TO BE TURE but it is, and yes you could say that the $625 was a small conciliation, but it's nothing when compared to the $10,000.I play about 3-4 times per week, most of the time at the Bike. You'll be surprised at how difficult the game is in LA vs anywhere else. I've even heard a lot of professional poker players admit that LA is one of, if not the tuffest game around. You have such a mix of players and people with money to gamble, that you need to be consistantly changing up your play almost each hand at a time. You have the tight semi-pro players, you have the crazy asian (no offense) players that call you down with 3rd pair and now you're getting all of these amatures that are rasing and re-raising with their K8's and A6's because they see the pros doing this on TV......Anyways believe it or not it's true. The Bad Beat Jackpot hand that I explained was at Commerce Casino a few years back.

Out of curiosity, as I don't play on a site with the jackpot thing .. If board is AAATT, one player just being an idiot but the other having either the case A or TT .. assuming everyone else had already folded, would the idiot get that huge paycheck when he's playing the board?

Most casinos with a bad beat jackpot require you to use both of your hole cards

Yeah, both hole cards from both players involved must play. From all the casinos that I've played at that have jackpot games, all require that both hole cards from both players play.

Now that makes no sense at all. If I have AA, and you have JA, board of let's say AJJ, you're telling me if he hits his case jack, in which he only has to play 1 card (or he could have JK to make sure he plays the kicker from board) .. I wouldn't get a jackpot?

If you had AJ and the case J came then yes that would be a jackpot because the A in your had plays. KJ is no jackpot.
