wizzle 0
hello. i have been having a hard time figuring out when to make adjustments according to the tight/loose recommendations in the preflop section of SSHE. at what table VPIP % do you make an adjustment? i know this is a leak of mine, and while i do make changes according to some tables that are blatantly obvious, i rarely spend time at a table that is less than 24% after 20 hands or so...is this too selective? i don't think it is, but i'm not sure, since tables can change so quickly at Party in the micros and there are times when i'm killing a table, yet the VPIP has dropped to 17% or so and i leave for a better table. your input is appreciated! At PartyPoker microlimits I've found that it's actually hard to find a table with less than 25%vpip which is AOK by me.I generally don't base my adjustments too much on the table VPIP per se. I just watch the players and take notes on what starting hands they showdown with... after about 20 hands or so I generally have a good feel for at least a few of the players (fish), and focus my attention on them.Thas just my strategy... for what iz worth. wrto4556 0
There are no set rules. You can't say: "This is an x vpip table, so I should play according to the loose/tight game chart".Instead, you should look at the amount of limpers in each individual hand. If you see 4 limpers in front of you, it's obviously correct to go by the loose table chart. If only one person limps and you have two people behind you(plus the blinds, making it 4), you have to know the likelyhood of each of those players coming along. If the likelyhood is small, you should go according to the tight chart. If the likelyhood is large, you should go according to the loose chart. You should also consider the likelyhood of being raised, if one does come along. This is why, at the beginning of the preflop section, Sklansky and Miller say that the chart is just a guideline. There are many things to consider before playing a hand. Not just "Does SSHE say it's playable". You have to consider the players in (how loose/tight and how aggressive/passive. Also, you have to consider the "control" you have over these opponents.) before you make any preflop decision.I could expand on this forever, but it would be one hella long post.
