He made enough money during his career that he should be able to pay this debt off you would think.

My understanding is that casinos only make a criminal complaint as a last resort and give people a chance to pay them back.

QUOTE
LAS VEGAS (AP)—Former NBA star Antoine Walker is facing criminal charges over $822,500 in gambling debts to three Las Vegas casinos.

Documents provided Tuesday by the Clark County district attorney accuse the 32-year-old Walker of three felony counts of writing bad checks. Prosecutors say he failed to make good on 10 checks totaling $1 million written to Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and the Red Rock Resort.

Walker’s agent and a lawyer in Las Vegas didn’t immediately respond Tuesday to messages.

Prosecutor Bernie Zadrowski told the Las Vegas Sun that Walker repaid $178,000 of the debts incurred last July to January.

Walker last played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2008. He was an All-Star with the Boston Celtics and won an NBA championship in 2006 with the Miami Heat.

I dunno. They can be pretty heavy handed. Remember Sir Charles and Pacman last year with similar situations? The authorities were on them in a heartbeat with Felony Arrest warrants. They seem to (over?) use the public announcement of these high profile arrest warrants to get quick action (and HUGE "processing fees").

you know him personally? I also wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have the money to pay it back, we all know how bad they are with their money.

They could just employ him as a mason to build a new casino free of charge.

He's already a pro at tossing bricks.

3-time NBA All-Star (1998, 2002, and 2003)

He was a productive player on some bad teams so he put up some good numbers. 22 points and 10 rebounds per game in his second season for example.

This is why we need to ban all forms of gambling.

If a person who is really good with a ball can get sucked in and lose it all....what chance do people who can't dribble have?
I use my cigar smoke as idiot repellent

Lol at him on the bad Celtics teams before Paul Pierce finally took over. Antoine was king of the bad shot. Gotta love the wiggle though.
