FCP Bob 1,323 Posted July 4, 2009 Author Share Posted July 4, 2009 Moneymaker Craving Some Beef JerkyChris Moneymaker just brought up an interesting question to the tournament floor staff regarding the Jack's Links Four-of-a-kind Jacks promotion.Their tabled was just dealt of flop of three jacks and wondered if a fourth jack was dealt on board whether they would all be eligible to win the Jack's Links prize pack."Well, only the player with four of a kind jacks would receive the prize..." came the response."But we'd all have four of a kind," chirped Moneymaker, obviously a fan of the Jack's Links product."Well...yes...you are right," was the reply from the floor staff, "Those players with live cards would be eligible for the prize."We believe that the table may have now agreed to check down any board which contains four jacks. FCP Bob 1,323 Posted July 5, 2009 Author Share Posted July 5, 2009 Not Sure That's A Good IdeaNews is just coming to us that during the last level a player left the tournament area with his chips.According to players at the table, including Gary Clarke, the player in question had been steadily drinking and then declared to his tablemates that he was going to the restrooms. The player then left and it was only after he had gone that the rest of the table noticed that there was only one $100 blue chip remaining on the table when the player had been playing with a stack of between 5,000 and 6,000.Chips taken off the table in this manner are removed from play and hence he blinded out a few hands later and has now been eliminated from the tournament. For comparison's sake, last year there were 1,297 runners on Day 1a, and 1,158 on Day 1b. The numbers went up considerably for the last two Day Ones last year, with nearly 2,000 on Day 1c, and more than 2,400 on Day 1d. Sounds like today's total means that Burt Boutin has won himself a prop bet. The line for the bet was 940, and Boutin took the under. Link to post Share on other sites

FCP Bob 1,323 Posted July 5, 2009 Author Share Posted July 5, 2009 Day 1b ConcludesA total of 873 runners came out today for the second Day One of the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event -- down from yesterday's 1,116, and also down from previous years' numbers. The Fourth of July holiday, speculated some, was a reason for the lower total, with many expecting much greater turnouts for Sunday and Monday.Among those who came to play on Independence Day were former WSOP champions Greg Raymer (2004), Chris Moneymaker (2003), Carlos Mortensen (2001), Chris Ferguson (2000), Jim Bechtel (1993), Doyle Brunson (1976, 1977), and "Amarillo Slim" Preston (1973). Of those Raymer and Preston appear to have fared the best, while Moneymaker and Brunson both ran out of chips before the afternoon was done. Others failing to make it to day's end included Vicky Coren, Jeremiah Smith, Ralph Perry, David Steicke, and David "The Dragon" Pham. Some of the bigger stacks at the end of the day belonged to Brandon Demes, Nick Maimone, Samer Rahman, Jim Bookstaff, Max Casao, Craig Hopkins, and Jesse Rios. Joe Sebok, Raymond Davis, Ali Eslami, Dan Harmetz, Juha Helppi, are among those at the upper and lower ends of the middle group. And Barry Greenstein, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, Billy "The Croc" Argyros, and Mike Caro were among those who will be coming back to short stacks when play resumes for this group on Tuesday.
