I don't think it's a dumb move if she's getting out of politics. From what i've been hearing, though, she's met with Republican big-wigs and told them that they need to move on and support other people in 2012. That's she's resigning because she's tired of the public life, and scrutiny. If this is true, then I think we dodge a major bullet by her not being vp, because if she can't handle the stress of being the failed VP candidate and the governor of our least populace state, then how would she handle the pressure of a national office?I think this is a dumb move if her goal is to make a presidential bid. It's different if she resigns during the campaign season , in 2011, to start firing up her campaign, because he doesn't want to do the state of Alaska a disservice by not having her focus on Alaska. I wish more Pres. candidates would do that actually, because candidates that are campaigning for other jobs while in office, we are basically paying them not to do their job and to apply for another one. However, quitting in 2009, even if she is firing herself up for a run in 2012, makes her look weak and look like a quitter ( regardless of the reality). If she is getting out of politics, I wish her the best of luck. I think in a lot of ways she was used and abused by both parties, throwing someone that inexperienced into a national campaign like that was irresponsible, I believe.

I don't think she's the best for the republican party because she's never really stated what she's believed in. She just uses a bunch of sayings that really don't say anything. But she's real popular with republicans for some reason. But I guess you could say the same for the guy that's not the president. Everything he said before he was president was basically bullshit.

I watched a replay of her press conference and it was very very bizarre. The reasons she gave for quitting as Governor are obviously total crap. If you take what she said seriously then she is saying that she isn't an effective Governor and somebody else taking over will do a better job than her for the next 18 months. I do agree that is most likely the case since she really shouldn't be in charge of anything more than the local PTA.I think it's most likely a money grab since the best time for her to make big money is now and that is the smartest thing she can do. As for a run at President in 2012 if she is actually so delusional to think that she both has a chance to win and is capable of doing the job then her thinking that quitting as Governor would help her is par for the course.
