Does anyone really believe the Islanders are going to pick anyone other than Tavares? And I'm not even suggesting that Tavares is head and shoulders better than Hedman, or maybe even Duchesne. Just that the Islanders, with their recent plight and their desire to get a new arena, put together with 22,000 fans at Nassau Coliseum for the draft, cant possibly pick anyone other than Tavares, a face for the franchise.

I'm guessing its just the media doing their job, but hearing Craig Button suggest the pick will be Hedman, and Bob McKenzie discuss the "good chance" that exists for Hedman to go #1 overall, is pretty suprising.

Im not hearing a ton of trade rumours going into tommorow night, which kinda sucks. I love the trades more than anything else, especially teams moving up/down. Will Lecavalier get traded? TKaberle?

Pretty pumped for tomm night and next Wednesday.

There is no chance that they're going to all this hooplah about having fan parties and taking fans to the draft only to piss off and estrange 95% of them by not taking the guy they want to see in an Isles uniform.

Garth is just having a little fun with the media that's held him under such a microscope for the past couple years. JT's game has been picked apart and studied night after night for the past 3 years, and he's *still* the consensus #1 pick.

Tavares will go number one, and the Islanders won't have their building ripped to shreds by pissed off guys from the "eye-lundh".

Isles: Hedman
Lightning will trade down, because they don't need another skill forward (tavares), they need a d-man. They want Jared Cowan, who will likely be around the 7th pick.

Duchene third.

I have heard from more than one scout that the Isles will take Hedman.

Remember, in Canada, signing Tavares sells tickets. In NY, they don't know and don't care.

These are Islanders scouts saying this?

I guess the above scenario would be how Toronto gets JT, but I really can't see it playing out to be honest. I disagree that "they don't know and they don't care", you don't get 22,000 people into a building for the draft if none of them care who gets picked.

I havent talked to any islander scouts...

And yes, you're right.... whats more accurate is that I don't think they care between Hedman and Tavares the way people in Ontario care...

You could combine the entire population of people who care about hockey in the US, and they wouldn't hold a candle to how much the people in Ontario care. <grin>

There's going to be an explosion if Toronto somehow gets Tavares. It would be soooooooo good for the game.

Ya so true about Toronto. There might be a parade down Yonge street if this happens.

I would be surprised if Hedman is taken because the boards are filled with Isles fans screaming for Tavares.

I can't wait for the draft and July 1st. Also don't forget about the rumours about Kaberle being traded before the draft (on TSN).

Owe $15 Dale - Won $10 more regular season games played (Dale - Lombardi, Me - Connolly)
Owe $20 Steve
Win $20 Bob - AHL Quarters
Win $20 Adam

Bet $20 Bob - AHL Season and $10 head to head (Bob 3 - Wayne 2) - unsure

Kaberle would have to waive his no trade clause. his window for being dealt doesnt open until July 1.

Wow would the Isles really take Duchesne 1st overall? If it happens Tavares could slip to 3rd. Colorado has gotta love that.

Well so much for that...the Sun is reporting that he's been traded. Apparently his NTC expires at 7pm tomorrow and doesn't start again until August.

Unless Im hearing it wrong, I dont think anyone is reporting that he has been traded. The story going around TO radio is that they received what Burke called a good offer that they are mulling over for Kaberle, evidently a player and a pick. But no deal as of yet.

And Im pretty sure the no-trade is from end of playoffs til Sept 1, or something like that.

edit: here's the Sun article, no movement from start of draft til mid-August.

Kaberle Deal?

I really hope your right on this one. I truly want the Leafs to make a splash, get some buzz going and maybe just become a good team again.

That, and Im having friends over tommorow for bbq....watching draft then poker. Be nice to have a fun draft!

I'm wondering about all the trades

Marleau? Cheechoo? Clowe? I said Clowe? I don't get that one. Unless he's asking for a lot of money (which sharks blog guy says isn't the case (I think he said that)).

Sharks should totally go for Jaybo and have a Pronger-Niedermayer type thing with him and boyle. Trade Marleau and Cheech for a pick and a player to get space. Don't re-sign Blake unless it's for 2.5 max. And, if you do then you gotta trade Christian or Douglas Murray. Sign that Gus guy to take over for Nabby in the future. nhl so easy.

oh and the other teams too. blah blah blah.

Loveeee draft day. Wouldn't be shocked to see Tampa Bay trade down a few spots or so to pick up Cowen.

I've heard from a few places that they've really got their eye on Cowen, now it all depends on if they can really get a package for their 2nd that would make it worth while. If a team is giddy enough to just overpay Tampa Bay for it, I'm sure they'd jump for it.

Maybe they swap picks with Toronto, add a player or two for Kaberle, and end up picking Cowen at 7?

The media has done a great job of keeping me on my feet on who's going first, at any rate.
