Hi,

after buying 11 step 1 tickets, I finally managed to build it up to a step 4 ticket. That in itself is a nice result for me, especially since I got lucky on the elimination bubble in step 3. Too bad you can't convert tickets to cash, otherwise I would do that now and start over. Since that is not a possiblity, I'm wondering whether I should

A) continue playing steps in order to enter the WSOP main event step qualifier tournament 2/12 at step 6.
B ) enter one of those 215$ double shootouts to qualify for the WSOP main event. (EDIT: apparently B and ) turns into a cool.gif smiley)
C) keep the ticket and play in some other tournament (Sunday Million) with it.

Right now I'm leaning towards option B, but snagging the top spot in a sit and go can be tough. Since you're on the money after the first part of the shootout, I'm not too bothered about getting lightning to strike twice.

In any case, assuming that all goes incredibly well and I qualify for the WSOP, then those 1000$ won't even cover the flight, but I should probably pay the difference and go just for the experience.
My question regarding that is whether day 1 has sold out already? I would hate to fly all the way through 8 time zones jet lagged as hell and then having to play right away. If day 1 is sold out, then I can just leisurely arrive on the second or third, get some sleep and play on one of the next days, which would be more of an incentive to give qualifying a shot.

Also, Pokerstars says that they provide 8 days of accommodation, with further days added if you happen to run deep in the tournament. What exactly is the start date for that? Is the accomodation starting from the night of the 2nd to the morning of the 10th or is it starting from the 3rd and running till the 11th? That would also be interesting to know, as flight schedules and hotel bookings for missing days are important to sort out in advance. That is all provisional, if I'm winning the qualifier of course. I'm getting ahead of myself, but if someone happens to know, it'd be great.

Any input on this would be appreciated smile.gif

Yeah, true enough. I'm going to do that, if I happen to win. I just thought that some people here might be in the know, but I guess everyone who is in Vegas at the moment is busy playing and won't be posting much about day 1 availability anyway.

So I take it nobody has any glowing recommendations to make about going the steps route rather than sticking with the shootout qualifier.

EDIT: Ok, reading the FAQ I've found out that the 8 nights are indeed check-in on July 2 and departure on July 10.

I would concentrate on trying to qualify first and the rest will all fall into place.

No way. It's much better getting excited before hand, at least I'll have that in case I bust out wink.gif

EDIT: 28.06.2009 This won't come as a surprise to anyone, but the dream bubble just burst. Essentially all the double shootouts I registered in got cancelled, so I decided to play in the Sunday Million instead. I put down top pair twice: Once against a massive reraise on the river from what the guy showed to be an overpair and then later on (had 9k left and the blinds were 250/500 with some ante) against trips. I was fed up and tilting then, UTG raised 2.5bb I called as UTG+1 with KQ and the flop was 6KJ rainbow. Guy checks, I bet 2.5k, he calls. Next card is an 8, he checks, I put in my last 5k into an 8k pot. He had 66... I lasted 1.5 hours, with a little less than half the field eliminated. Fun tournament.
