From time to time I play in a $40 buy-in game always run into some bad luck. I am mainly a tournament but want to get better in the cash games. I already discovered a few holes in my game (push too strong, can't let go of a hand). Any advice will gladly be taken. P.S. I am also having a a little trouble with understanding pot odds and percentages. Can anyone point me in the right direction with that?

Harrington on Holdem is an Excellent book on NL and tourneys.I've heard nothing but great things about that book, though I have not read it myself, having mostly become a cash games player. For more on cash games, Sklansky's Theory of Poker is an excellent choice, provided you have a grasp on the basics (this is my next poker book)Small Stakes Hold em is great for limit, and Super System is good for general poker background
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

It's hard to give general advice about your no-limit game. Maybe you could give some specific situations that you have trouble with.As for pot odds and percentages, you should probably study a good poker book until you understand it. The favorite here is "Small Stakes Hold'em" available from 2+2 press.

So what type of game are you talking about? A NL max $100 buy-in, or a home game? Give us some background so we can help you out.

What are the blinds in the 40 dollar game you play?I consider myself a very strong player and I play with my friends for 20-30 bucks. The problem is the blinds are .25/.50 (which is ludicrously high for what everyone buys in for). In a loose, aggressive, high-ante (more dead money ante'd before the cards are dealt), several significant adjustments must be made to be successful at that kind of game.
