Sens-Eh 0
Solid-villian : 12/9/2.5weak-villian:28/14/1PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (9 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comMP2 ($23.20)Solid-villian (MP3) ($100)Weak-villian (CO) ($43)Button ($96.70)SB ($24.95)Hero (BB) ($136.95)UTG ($113.95)UTG+1 ($100)MP1 ($94.70)Preflop: Hero is BB with A, K2 folds, MP1 calls $1, 1 fold, Solid-villian bets $5, Weak-villian calls $5, 2 folds, Hero calls $4, MP1 calls $4--- Now granted I know there is a good argument for my having gone ahead and 3 bet here. In this case I elected not to, in particular because of weak-villian's presence in the hand. He wasn't super fishy Loose, but he hadn't seemed good enough to make a lay down when he entered the pot, and I wasn't keen on playing in a 3 bet pot OOP after missing the flop 2/3 of the time...(coles notes excuse - I didn't believe I had the Fold Equity that normally comes with a 3 bet.)Flop: ($20.50) Q, J, 9(4 players)Hero bets $14.50, 1 fold, Solid-villian calls $14.50, Weak-villian raises to $38 (All-In), I went ahead and donk bet here, because that board is going to be scary for most, and I feel like I have all kinds of ways to win this pot. -- Hero ???Remember solid-villian still has to act too. nas061000 0
You can't just call here... you're either pushing or folding... that being said, you have the 13+ outs, forgetting pot odds, I think you should push. The raise pre-flop was pretty standard IMO, solid vilian may have the K of hearts and and wanted to see the turn for cheap.
David_Nicoson 1
I feel strongly that preflop should be 3-bet or folded. As played, I could see calling or raising. We're going to have show down a hand that beats the all-in villain to win the pot. Raising is bluffing at a dry side-pot. But, we might be cleaning up some outs (e.g., if the villain folds A A and one-pair beats the all-in villain).

But, we might be cleaning up some outs (e.g., if the villain folds A A and one-pair beats the all-in villain).why do You feel strongly about 3-bet preflop? - - I dunno about 3 betting there, with the short stack weak villian having already called a raise. I am going to end up with an SPR under 1 against him if I do that. I'm not fond of that with A,K since most the time that means I will be shoving with air on the flop against him. (presuming he is the only caller, and if he is not the only caller, and I get the solid-villian and him in the pot 3 handed with a 3 bet pot preflop. Then I make a a c-bet on a low board even if I do get solid-villian to fold, once more I have now pretty much put all weak-villians chips in and I don't even have a pair) Wow that was a run on sentence! I think some pot control was in order here, but I am happy to hear some arguements for 3 betting pre. As far as the flop play went - as played, shoving to clean up some outs (such as A,A) did cross my mind at the time. I felt like after the strong villian called my donk-bet he likely had a pair maybe K's or A's but probably not a set. Weak-villian on the other hand, could show up with just about anything from 1 or 2 pair to trips, to a K high flush draw.
David_Nicoson 1
why do You feel strongly about 3-bet preflop?Calling here puts us out of position with a hand that we hope makes TPTK in a multiway pot, with substantial money yet to play. It's not a particularly profitable situation even if we hit.

I think if this is your style, you need to go ahead and get it in in these spots.
