From My Poker Blog:My worst played hand of today; the more I think about it, the more I beat myself up over it. Basically, I could've folded (When it was free to check) the flop and not misplayed it as badly as I did.PokerStars 0.05/0.10 Hold'em (10 handed) converterPreflop: Emptyeye is UTG+2 with As, 9s.1 fold, UTG+1 calls, Emptyeye calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, SB raises, BB calls, UTG+1 calls, Emptyeye calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, Button calls.Try to limp with the suited ace, then call the raise, hoping to hit something huge.Flop: (16 SB) Ad, 3d, 9d (8 players)SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Emptyeye checks, MP1 checks, MP2 checks, MP3 checks, Button checks. The preflop raiser checked. This is very suspicious to me, and I check behind, presuming he's going for the check/raise. It winds up checked all the way around.Turn: (8 BB) 5s (8 players)SB bets, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, Emptyeye raises, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, Button folds, SB 3-bets, Emptyeye calls, MP1 calls. Now he fires at it. ANYTHING would have been better than how I played it in response. Viable options given my prior suspicions would be: Fold here, though that's weak/tight. Call it down from here, which costs me 2BB and I have a chance he's making this play on a pair and flush draw and can thus win. Raise it and then fold to a 3-bet, which costs the same, doesn't give me a chance to win, but I can confidently fold knowing I'm beat. Instead, I pick "spew chips by raising and THEN calling down", which costs me 4BB when I pretty much know I'm drawing to four outs.Amusingly, though I don't like the way I played it, given I figure he flopped the flush (Again, he checked after being the preflop raiser, which should send off warning bells in anyone's head), I would NOT have had proper odds to chase my four outter with a call, but by raising, GAVE myself proper odds to call the subsequent 3-bet.River: (17 BB) Th (3 players)SB bets, Emptyeye calls, MP1 calls. And I don't hit one of those outs, but continue spewing chips like the vomitting mouse I can be sometimes (Even getting 18:1, I can fold this sure I'm beat often enough).Final Pot: 20 BBWhat the hell should I have done here? Even given I think he flopped the flush, I have two-pair. My hindsight analysis says bet the flop, 3-bet when (Yes, I was SURE he was going for the check/raise) raised, then call down from there. Anyone agree with this? Disagree? Or did I not play it as terribly as I think I did?

Interesting hand.First, why do I suddenly feel like I wanted to raise this hand preflop, or check-reraise to try to narrow the field. Bah, I know that's not good, but it occured to me. Anywho...I'm not convinced that you played this that badly. Sure, calling down is probably the best move, but to even think about raising the turn and then folding to a three bet makes no sense to me. Don't beat yourself up over this hand

Yeah, even though I actually don't have the odds to chase four outs (Remember, I'm confident I'm behind to the flush) given I checked the flop, I do think calling down makes the most sense. What do you think of my other line of go nuts on the flop, then call down from there? Or even try one bet, then call down (I suggested the original "go nuts on flop" because PF raiser could be going for a check/raise continuation bet...I suppose...but like I said, his check made me suspicious, knowing that I tend to check a flopped nut flush [Though not if I'm the preflop raiser] myself)? I'm looking for alternatives.Incidentally, I actually thought briefly about raising preflop myself, but decided against it. Additionally, I knew I was in trouble once the flop hit--too good to fold, yet possibly (Probably, once the PF raiser checks preflop) behind.

I'd have bet this flop. His check doesn't mean anything, it could be a bunch of things
