99 in early position

Recommended Posts

Forgive me if this is standard. Just want to check my play of medium pairs.$1/$2 FullTiltPreflop: econ_tim1 fold, econ_tim calls.Flop: (9.5 SB) [5h 5s Kc]econ_tim MP2 calls.Turn: (6.5 BB) [3d] econ_tim MP2 calls.River: (8.5 BB) [7s]econ_tim calls.Final pot: 10.5 BBIs betting the river better? My thought was that, if I was right, and MP2 has two high cards, then he will fold to a bet. Checking could induce a bet, though.

raise PF. trust me, once I started doing this with 99 it started to play much eaiser. Start making it an UTG raise. betting the river is for value. AQ or AJ will pay you off, but they will check behind

88 also correct? Then just limp with the rest? Or fold the rest UTG?

Just limp w/88 at these levels. MP1 I start open raising w/88

OK. I see why betting the river is a better play. Turned out he had AhJh and just made a stupid play. But I shouldn't count on my opponents being idiots. And I'll see how the early position raising goes.

Just don't get married to the hand when you start raising with it. Be prepared to let it go if you come across players telling you that your hand isn't good
