Had a rush on $2/$4 today ... up 26BB in 20 hands. Anyway, I had a question about a river decision.$2/$4 FullTiltPreflop: econ_timUTG calls, 1 fold, MP1 calls, 1 fold, MP3 calls, econ_tim calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB checks.Flop: (7 SB) [9c Qh 6c]SB bets, 1 fold, UTG raises, 1 fold, MP3 calls, econ_tim calls, Button calls, SB calls.Turn: (8.5 BB) [6s]SB checks, UTG checks, MP3 bets, econ_tim calls, 1 fold, SB calls, UTG calls.River: (12.5 BB) [Jc]SB check, UTG checks, [b]MP3 bets, econ_tim calls.Final pot: (18.5 BB)Obviously I liked the river. The first question is do I raise? I probably have the best hand, and I would like overcalls. I'm not sure that the first two players will call, though. Second, after MP3 reraises, do I just call or should I cap? I know a full house is unlikely, but what else does he 3 bet with?

Do you think UTG is dumb enough to open limp with QQ or JJ?

Good point. Actually, I was more worried about MP3 possibly having 99. I know this would be a preflop raise, but players do strange things.

I'd be putting him on a weaker flush, and capping this :)Sure there are boat possibilities, but the pair on the board is pretty low.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

I'm still trying to get a handle on the overcall thing, but maybe this is a good situation to try for the overcall? You've got 4 people at the river. Now if you get the other 2 to call, you pick up 2 BB for a one BB call. If you raise and knock the other players out, you're subject to the reraise by someone with a boat. Since you obviously aren't folding at that point, maybe the overcall is the play?Since you raised, you might as well cap.As I said, I'm still working on this concept, so I'd really like to hear some other thoughts.

honestly, three bet the flop. You'll get more people to go along with you then you think, plus you'll get a free card on the turn. Oh yeah, raise PF

I dunno...he wakes up on the turn (When the board pairs), and obviously isn't particularly perturbed by the flush hitting. If he went nuts on the river (Without showing strength prior to that I mean), I'd be inclined to agree with you, but he obviously likes the 6 pairing, so the only problem here is what his other card it. A read on MP3 would be nice, but I'm inclined to say he has J6 here. At least, that's what he seems to be representing. Other possibilities include 66, the aforementioned 99, Q6, and QQ. Yes, all of these holdings would fall into the "bad play, good result" category if he actually has any of them, but I've seen weirder things (Like a guy earlier today flops trip queens with AQ, check/calls out of position. He turns QUADS, but apparently doesn't like money, and checks the turn AND RIVER out of position. His opponent, who had AK, was obviously not having any of it and checked behind both times. Yeah, he (The AK) would likely have folded anyway, but it's as though the guy with quads was TRYING not to make money). But I'm digressing.Like I said, he likes the paired board, and isn't scared of the flush hitting. So I actually like just calling the 3-bet here.
