Button is overagressive and a loose raiser preflop. I tear him up shorthanded and love every bit of it.BB is new to me but is way too loose/passive.5/10 (4 handed)Preflop: I get delt A :) ,2 :D in the SB.UTG/CO folds, Button raises, BB calls, Button calls.Flop: (9sb) 9 :) ,7 :club: ,5 :club: (3 players)I bet, I call, BB calls.Turn: (7.5BB) 6 :club: (3 players)I bet, BB calls, Button calls.River: (19.5BB) 7 :D (3 players)I bet, I call, BB calls.Questions on preflop and river. How bad do I suck?

I like it, though I probably 3-bet the river.Preflop, your suited ace is probably better than his random junk.Barring 68 of hearts, which I suppose he COULD have, my guess is either a lower flush or trip 7s. More info would be nice...does he normally slow down if you play back at him and he has nothing? Or is he just BET RAISE RAISE CAAAAAAP no matter how the board relates to his holdings?

My take (even though you're much better than me, so I don't even know why I'm bothering)Pre-flop - fine, no big problems there. i like the 3-betRiver - why not cap this? maybe if it was heads up you could leave it there, but the added caller makes it hugely profitable to keep betting. I thought you played 3-6...did you get passive at the end because you are playing higher than usual?

Raising to get heads up with ButtonDonk is fine. If Whale wants to join in, that's ok too.Love the stop and go.I probably three bet that river, but you got an overcall from Whale, so it probably nets out about the same. If ButtonDonk is truly crazy, you could have gotten that river capped, but maybe he has a set of nines or fives that rivered into a boat.

Not half as bad as BB, I'd wager. T8 of diamonds or something?I never know what to do in these river situations. Would Button cap preflop with a middle pocket pair? If not, I think you can 3-bet the river, and if he has 97 or the like, oh well. I can't imagine BB is beating you, unless maybe he has 55 but I doubt it. Looks like he's coming along at this point. It's awful hard not to respect the button's river raise with this board though, especially if he might have flopped a set - unless he's a blind, moronic, total maniac.
Then you go to da box for 2 minutes by yourself, you feel shame... then you get free.

i saw him at the riverbank. he was breaking bread and giving thanks. with crosses made of pipes and planks. leaned up against the nitrous tanks.
he said take a hit. hold your breath and i'll dunk your head. then when you wake up, you'll be high as hell and born again.

Just to clear things up, the Button isn't a "donk", he's just over aggressive. The question I have about preflop is if I should have just called. I 3-bet to get button heads up, but the BB is loose so I figured that there was no way I would get it 1 on 1 so I should just call. What do yall think?

I've been playing 5/10 for about a month now.Im passive because I have to have the best hand 3/4 of the time to make 3-betting correct. Given the action, does that seem reasonable?I was thinking about check/calling...lol.

i think you played it fine. i like the 3 bet PF and i would probably play the river the same. that being said i wouldn't argue with you for check calling the river as well.

I'm not crazy about the raise. You are out of position and can stand to lose bets if you miss or lose more bets than usual if its to a better ace.just call

I think just having trip sevens is really unlikely.. I mean, he 3 bet the turn, I really, really doubt he'd do that with just middle pair. He knows you capped the turn, and he still raises you on the river, I think calling is just fine.I think the three bet is fine pre flop too, 'cause I think there's some chance you can get the BB to fold pre flop to a three bet, but NO chance he'll fold to just one raise. Unless he is very, very loose.

With the BB along for the ride (assuming he's behind you and not folding), I think the number would drop from 3/4 to something closer to 1/2.But if button's not a donk, just calling the river raise is probably best. His play up to that point suggests a worse flush is a likely holding, but it's hard to believe he'd then raise the river - although he probably doesn't have you on a set, since the coordinated board didn't seem to scare you at all on the turn.Preflop - Not sure here. There's a good chance your A-high is the best hand at that point, if so you would certainly have enough equity to raise, but of course you're out of position. You'll flop an A about 17% of the time, and a flush draw (or flush) about 13.5% of the time - maybe a call would be better.Just saw the result - that blows. Out of curiosity, what did BB have?

The straight would be my guess too, though it's of course impossible to say for certain.
