BiGV99 0
I have started taking stabs at the pot after the flop with say $10 bet from early position with $1/$2 blinds and marginal pots. I do this when I hit a flop to push players out and/or if I miss my flop and want to see where I stand with a still decent hand (ie. AcJh).Obviously I'm not talking about monster hands here but usual pairs, draws etc.Is this a sound strategy or is there a better way to play the hit flop and missed flop? dms26 3
It depends on so many things, the texture of the flop, your opponents, stack sizes, position ect.Really the only way to get better at it is to play hands. I would also recommend SSHE, they give good detailed examples of post flop play.
econ_tim 0
I guess you're asking about NL. Sure it's OK to take stabs every once in a while, but if people realize you do it all the time it will get you into trouble. And betting out when you have top pair is not taking a stab, it is simply protecting you hand. It's also somewhat safer to steal the pot from late position, but some players don't respect late position bets.
allinbluff35 0
it's situational depending on your position, how many people in the hand, your table image, and other fun stuff.
TheIceman05 0
I think it's very important to winning NL games, especially if the table becomes more and more shorthanded, to be able to run without the ball, and pick up orphan pots that nobody wantsIce
