byaaatch 0 Posted February 4, 2009 Share Posted February 4, 2009 I have never played a dvd on my computer before but the other day I wanted to watch something so I popped in a dvd and I got this message from Window media playerWindows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.I tried searching for a decoder but it looks like I have to pay for one. I am running Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3. Is there any way to get the decoder? I went on windows help page and they had these things about seeing if my windows was validated which I am not too sure but I believe it is. Any help would be appreciated. NightSky 0 Posted February 4, 2009 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Don't be scared, im a good guy :)Start vlc, clicl ctrl+d a menu should open there look for "volume" it must be on right from file, there u can select dvd and browse for the drive where the dvd is.ORYou could try just to dragp&drop the whole directory of the dvd to opened vlc.
