So I finally won a big mtt yesterday. (Unfortunately it was only a $5+1 at Party, but there were 1500 entrants so the pay out was still decent. ) I wanted to post partly in celebration, but also because I think the guy I played heads-up on the end provides a pretty good template of how not to play when heads-up, especially with a big chip lead. I don't think I played particularly well, but he let me grind my way back instead of being the aggressor and really putting the hammer down. I think playing heads-up is one of the hardest things to get better at so hopefully this is instructive for some of you. This guy seems pretty bad, at least as far as i can tell. He only bets when he caught something, and he'll raise in the same situation. I didnt really see him bluff. If he just keeps calling, you should continue betting instead of shutting down with bottom pair. Thats the only thing different i would do. You played good otherwise, congratulations.

Wow, nice man. How much you win? This is how my last MTT went:Buy in is $20. I pick up ATs 3 off the button. 1 limper and I raise to 3x BB. BB calls, initial limper goes all-in. Both me and BB fold. Two hands later. I pick up AJo on the button. Folded to me and I raise to 3xBB again (about 20BB left). SB calls and the BB who goes all-in (same person as last). He has me covered by a small amount. Since I've seen this guy make this move a couple times before I call. SB folds. BB has KJo and hits a K on the flop and another on the turn. Another guy makes a comment like "wow, you got really lucky" to which he responded with "there's no luck in poker."

1st paid $1,575. not bad for a $6 investment, but it's still kind of a let down when you beat 1499 people.as for your recent tourney, i mean, you're always gonna run in to rotten players making rotten plays. it just really burns when they're ungracious after sucking out.

Your opponent must have caught all sorts of monsters to get to that point. He sucks.
