i would have raised the turn and if i got three bet i fold, if he calls i most likey see a free showdown.

You "effed" yourself by not betting enough on the flop. Your bet looks like you missed with overcards.Now you are rewarded with a guessing game on the river.Did villain read your play as weekness and is trying to bluff you of your overcards?I'd say at least the SB stuck around for that reason. But he then folds to what seems to be a "Jx" from the big blind.If you wanted to get BB to bluff you in order to maximise your value in the hand well... it worked.The only question is... is he bluffing? Often enough?@dizzle:Raising the turn is terrible IMO. You cant get to a "free showdown" at the river, when you already put in that additional river-bet on the turn.Why should he reraise you with a Jack here? There are no real draws out there at this point. He will smooth call and bet the river smallish.Someone correct me if there is any value in raising this turn.

i think the small turn bet is just a way of villian to see cheap river with something like qq, 1010, maybe backdoor flush draw. Im agree with is probably not plus ev to raise turn, but are we really getting away from this hand. so we either call turn and probably c/c river? If he smooth calls turn i think he is only betting aj or if hes full or fills up. i cant see him having kj dont think he bets qj or 10j. But hey im probably way off. but willing to learn.

I guess clear fold if I understand the stat.I'm prob potting the flop and seeing what happens from there. There's no way I'm just calling .50 on the turn; I'm probably raising. I was going to say a paired board is a great great great place to bluff a TAG, but ... if I understand the stat, it's hard to call the river bet.

Your description of the villian as loose-passive sullies the good name of loose passive fish everywhere. This guy is ultra loose/semi-comatose.He has to have a J to wake up here. (or a boat)

How do you exploit loose-passive players? What is their major weakness? They call too often and call bets that are too large for the strength of their hand.Just bet $1-1.2 on the flop to get value from tonnes of worse hands he will call with.Turn looks fine, good fold on the river.

You're giving opponents too much credit for thinking several levels.I don't mind betting a bit more for value with our calling station read. However, if this the same c-bet we make when we whiff this super dry flop, arguing that it appears "weak" is silly. I like how OP played it.

I see this line a lot in my HU games.A tiny turn bet that screams "call me" with a monster, and then once you do call, they figure you have a piece, so they bet huge on the river and expect a call.I've seen it as a bluff the odd time, but more often than not, it's a strong hand. We have a strong hand too, and beat some of his strong hands, but not nearly enough to call the river, imho.

Isn't this small bet thing the norm now? Since I've been back to playing, which is only about 2 weeks, I've seen this more than anything... Flop: Min bet. Turn: Min Bet. River: ZOMG HE/THEY CALLED ME TWICE, THEY MUST HAVE MONSTERS, WHERES MY BET POT BUTTON!??!?!?!?If/when it happens to me, I appreciate the price they are giving me to hit draws, and more often than not, I appreciate that I won't hit my draws.
