All right guys, since we have our share of lurkers, let's put together a bit of a "how to" on o8b to the best of our abilities..My vision is a quick-reference guide with a ton of "nuggets" that should stick in newer players craniums to better their play.I'm a LO8 guy, I don't know my tuckus from a hole in the wall in PLO8, so everyone feel free to jump in and add stuff..Rule #1 -Be *less* inclined to call down or chase a hand, when all it takes is the same 2 cards out of an opponents hand to scoop the pot both ways.Example: A24 flop, your hand is A36Q.KJT flop, you have KQ97.and so on..

Rule #2In multiway pots, never chase draws one way on a paired board, unless you can draw (at the very least) weakly both ways against a single opponent.Example: [: : : :] on a : : : board. BAD!on a : : : board. Marginal!on a : : : board. Decent!and so on...This will def. be a work in progress.. Especially until Checky can get here to pitch in.

Rule #3 (LO8):Call LIGHT on the river when the pot is laying decent odds and the majority (if not all) of the draws missed.Example: [: : : :] on a:4s: : : : : Board.Getting 5 to 1 or better:2 opponents it's definitely ok to call if you are last to act and the guy leading the betting the whole way bets river.Heads up it's almost always good to call river.I've even been known to raise river caught in the middle if I feel strongly the lead bettor was betting A2 or a flush the whole way and missed, and think the last player to act cannot call a raise.In short: get in the habit of calling light on the river, since the majority of aggression in this game comes from betting nut low draws and flush draws. I need a long history with a player before I can give him credit for top two or a set in the above situation.

lolno, those are pretty spot on to start. they change a WHOLE lot when you start getting into more LAGgy games, but they're really good starting tidbits. tbh, i probably won't ever really post anything too much more advanced than that, because i don't really like it being available on teh interwebs (most of the mid-high stakes winners have stopped posting on 2+2, as well, i know). i know that sounds a bit *******-y, but until online poker becomes regulated, the games are just drying up enough as it is, and my bankroll doesn't like it when my opponents get better, even if it's in a game that i don't play that much anymore .

I was concerned with this a little too, which was why I was gunning mainly to put together some basic nuggets.. Or just hiding it in the Content thread, although all 4 of us who post in there got the basics down, so that would essentially be a waste.Amen on the games drying up a bit at mid-stakes. It's hard enough to find a handful of other people who play your game at a time, much less a handful of people you *want* to play in your game at a time. sigh.
