runthemover 40 Posted January 17, 2009 Share Posted January 17, 2009 you win the game at the line of scrimmage so I'd pick someone who affects that part of the game. probably on Defense because you look at someone like Albert Haynesworth and the affect he's had. And, you know the truth is defense wins championships. I won't pick a specific player since I don't know who the best are and age and contracts etc and the rest of the drafting process after everyone picks their one player. If we only get one player then I'd go with Pacman because he'd just put out a contract on his opponent. Plus he's got tons of "incidents" with the law but no arrests or convictions (or he did before) so you know he's smart about not getting caught. Link to post Share on other sites

They're a hybrid safety/corner/linebacker who can zone cover deep over the top, man up, stop the run, lay people out, etc. Link to post Share on other sites

One of the best DTs in the league in only his 3rd year out of Oregon. You can lock up the center of your defensive line for years to come starting with him. If not him then perhaps Patrick Willis from the 49ers. A great young middle linebacker that seems to be in on nearly every defensive play. Reed would basically be the oldest age of player I would be looking for to start a franchise around, as you want someone who can play for you for a number of years. Likewise, if you are going with somone who has been in the league 6 or 7 seasons, you want to make sure it is someone who directs their particular unit (hence Reed or Troy). Peyton, while undoubtedly one of the best QBs in the game today, already has 11 seasons under his belt and so I would pass him over. Link to post Share on other sites

Reed and Polamalu would be the pinnacle of any defense but I feel that a team is best formed around the O-Line and D-Line. Win the trench battles = win the football game. No stand out studs but a great group as a whole.Walter Jones was awesome as was Jonathon OgdenRight now? Jake Long is a good start.Spoken like a former lineman and Dolphins fan.
