2008 Tournament of Champions Info

There will be two Tournament of Champions tournaments held; one for the Tuesday night League and one for the Wednesday night League.

The Tuesday night TOC will be held on Tuesday February 3rd at 9 PM EST on Pokerstars and will be a HORSE Match
The Wednesday night TOC will be held on Wednesday February 4th at 9 PM EST on Pokerstars and will be a NLHE Match.

The winner of each nights TOC tournament will not only have the pride of being crowned the 2008 Negreanu Open year champion, but will also win the grand prize of a 1 hour phone consultation with Daniel Negreanu himself or their choice of a $250 Cash prize being put up by Daniel. We have added the cash prize option because scheduling these calls is very difficult as Daniels schedule is very hectic and changes regularly and some people just like cold hard cash! The money will be deposited directly to your PokerStars account.

IF YOU QUALIFIED PLEASE SEND ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AS I WILL BE SENDING OUT AN EMAIL TO EACH OF YOU INDIVIDUALLY THAT WILL CONTAIN THE DETAILS OF THE TOURNAMENT INFO INCLUDING THE SPECIAL PASSWORD. YOU WILL RECEIVE THIS EMAIL BY JANUARY 30TH, 2009. IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN EMAIL BY JANUARY 30TH PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE.

It is obviously critical that you do not give this password out to anyone as I can not remove anyone from the tournament if they register and it would really suck to have a non qualifying person enter this tournament because someone leaked the password.

2008 Missing Prizes Info

It is my understanding there may be a few people (hopefully not) that may still be missing prizes from this season. If you have not receive a your prize from the 1st, 2nd or 3rd quarter please send me a private message stating the details and I will check with Matt in promotions for you.

2009 New Season Info and Changes

The 2009 Season will begin on Wednesday January 7th at 9 PM EST on Pokerstars with NLHE.

Thanks to everyone who gave their feedback on how to structure this years season.

The biggest change is we are moving back to a 1 night per week schedule versus the two night per week schedule.

All games will be held on Wednesday Nights and include a 2:1 rotation of NLHE and HORSE

All games will be held on Pokerstars at 9 PM EST

All games will be listed in the Tourney/Private tab (1st quarter tournaments are already listed)

All games are password protected and have the same password as the 2008 season, "fcpfcp" without the quotations

All games have the same extended blind structure and double starting chip stacks

Again, I realize there is no way to please everyone with this new format, but I went with the majority for this 1st quarter. Please feel free to continue to post feedback or recommend changes and it is possible to make changes starting with the 2nd quarter. The only things that are not up for negotiation are: Buyin Amount, Dates/Nights, Starting Time.

The prizes will be very similiar for the 2009 season with the top 3 cumulative points winners for each quarter winning a FCP Chipset and the 4th -9th place cumulative points winners receiving their choice of a FCP Hat or FCP Shirt.

There will be a 2009 Tournament of Champions which will include the top 9 winners from each quarter to play for a grand prize of $250 cash being put up by Daniel Negreanu himself and of course the title of 2009 Negreanu Open Champion.

A few notes on the prizes .... Some people have asked me if there is a way to get different prizes since a lot of people that play these regularly have already won either a chipset/hat/shirt and the answer is not at this time. I realize no one really plays these tournaments for just the prizes and hopefully everyone sees these as a nice value add. I'm sure the majority would agree that these tournaments are mainly about having a good time, comraderie, goading, pride, etc. I do not personally make anything for running these touraments and for one am very grateful that FCP is gracious enough to give me anything at all to offer as bonus incentives for these games.

2009 Website Info

I will be creating a new website look for the 2009 Season that will have all the changes outlined above included. The site will still be at http://www.negreanuopen.com but I will not be able to get to these changes until the weekend of January 10th since I will be on vacation. I will be keeping the leaderboards current regularly which will hopefully promote more turnout and increased competiton.

One note, until I can get a proper spam filter please do not use my dna4ever@negreanuopen.com email address as I rarely check that account and I currently have about 3,000 spam messages and it is difficult to filter through the legitimate emails. On that same note if anyone needs a good deal on some Viagara, Cialis, or Nike shoes, please let me know, I can put you in touch with some people.

Great run down for everything! Thank you so much for all of the work you do on this. I know it is extremely time consuming. I just want you to know that it is vey much appreciated!

******

I only played in 3 of these games in 2008 but I hope to play in more in 2009.

A bit of a brag... I played in 3 and final tabled in 2 (but only cashed in 1)... I thought I did pretty well.

Never played one of these. I'll probably waste my $11 (haha), but I'd like to give it a shot.

About how many players are there? Do this forum's bigger names play this?

Well bummer, after a year hiatus I was planning on doing it again this quarter/year. Though I can stumble through some HORSE events
and others i've never played so I kinda doubt I'll do it now except an occasional week if that.

Sorry to hear man, 2 weeks of NLHE and 1 week of HORSE, there are no dedicated mixed game nights anymore.

OK, the 2009 Negreanu Open website is open at http://www.negreanuopen.com (you may have to click refresh/reload incase the 2008 site is still cached)

The 2009 results are current with the January 7th tournament.

I have received about 20 - 25 messages so far and have not gone through them yet, but will do that this weekend.

Once I have had a chance to go through the messages I will post here whom I have complete information from as well as anyone that I still need to hear from.
