So I just ventured into my first cash no limit game (besides some micro limit online) and wondered if anyone had some ideas on my play on a couple of hands. I'd been playing extremely tight (the table was way loose (i.e. 5 people went all in preflop (average stack of 250$), no one had a pocket pair). Blinds were 1-2-2 (1 on dealer), usually there was kill which made it 10$ to go (double blinds).First hand: I had about 460$.Dealt As8c, mid position in kill pot, raised to 20$, got one caller on the button, very loose player. Flop : 5s 6d 9sBet 50$, calledTurn: JsChecked, guy bets 100$ I debated check raising him with my nut flush draw (and inside straight, which may or may not have been good). The guy had previously gone all in with top pair and been busted, so I couldn't give him automatic credit for the flush. I folded, wrong play? Second hand: Dealt 5s,5dAgain mid position, kill pot, raised to 20$, button called.Flop: 2s 3s 5cBet 50$, called. Guy was fairly new, so no real read yet.Turn: QdBet 50$, guy pushed all in. I guessed AsQs for the flush draw with top pair, and pushed all in. He had As4s and busted me. Should I have somehow given him credit for the straight? Should I have pushed harder preflop? Any pointers appreciated, just making my transition to no limit... Boondoggle

First hand:Don't think you should play A8 from mid-position. The guy could be trying to steal the pot on the turn since you checked, but don't think you can call here.Second hand:Looks OK. Hard to give the guy credit for the straight, plus you've got redraws to full house.

First hand. Fold preflop, fold the flop, fold the turn. You have a nice cup of zip here :)Second hand, there's really no way to get off this hand. You have redraws to a boat and you can't put him on the straight.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Thanks for the input! I agree playing A8o in mid position is bad (I'd been laying those mediocrehands all day). The only reason I tried to play it was a couple of people hadcommented out loud that I never play a hand, so I tried a semi steal. Probably too marginal a hand to try, and probably bad position to try it from. I was mostly wondering about the post flop play. I guess it was ok. The only reason I wondered was a guy asked if I had top pair, I said no,nut flush and inside straight draw, and he looked at me like I was crazy for giving up the draw. Like I said, it was a really loose table. :)I thought I did ok on the second hand, just wanted to make sure I hadn'tmade a colossal blunder. Boondoggle
