More of a rant about a stupid move by me. The only place this could go besides here is General, and I have no intention of putting this in general.A few weeks ago, a user here IM'd me about one of his friends. Apparently this guy hit a good run of cards playing above his bankroll and made a ton of money and is now playing high NL cash games with success. I'm really skeptical, but decide to check it out. Obviously I think this was a really stupid move on his part, but at least it worked out. Sure enough, there he is playing high stkes NL cash games. We IM back and forth and I watch him play. I really don't think he's a ton better than me, but he sure wins a ton of coinflips.Well, today he hit a fairly big tournament for a nice payout. I'm in awe that he's doing so well. I had just deposited on Noble to take care of their 60% reload bonus. Through various suckouts, bad luck, and bad play, I was down about 100. Well, I'm thinking back to the user and his friend and thinking, if they can do it, why not me?So, I take the $240 I have left on Noble and buy into the 2/4 NL game. I had seen them play and they're not real great competition - fairly passive. I thought I'd just sit back and wait for the nuts and double up or at least take in a nice pot. I sit in about MP2 (after lurking a few rounds) and wait for the big blind. First hand I'm dealt is 10-5 of diamonds. 5 limpers to me, and I check. Flop comes 3-10-10 with 2 hearts. Pot's $20 and I bet $16 hoping to get paid off by the flush draws. I get 2 callers. Turn comes a 4, which puts a 2nd spade on the board. I bet out $50 and get the same 2 callers. River comes a J of clubs and I figure I'm pretty safe here. I bet out $75. The button thinks for a bit and puts me all in (he's the large stack). SB folds and I think a bit, and then call. He turns over pocket 4's.I had just built my bankroll to $800 and now I'm back where I was a month ago at $500. I'm really angry with myself for doing this. I knew better and I knew it was stupid, but my damn ego got in the way. I could've just went to bed down $100 for the night and got it back over the next couple of days. I had been down worse before. Suckouts like that happen and if I had the proper bankroll, or played half-way decently on the hand, this could have been avoided. I feel that right now I'm the biggest dumbass on this forum.Anyway, just wanted to vent my frustrations. Chalk another one up for "I can't beileve I did that." I'll get it back and, next time, I won't squander it.
