Question Regarding The Wolverine Character

Recommended Posts

So, I just watched the first X-Men movie (again) and they were saying how Wolverine has the capability to heal himself as his "mutant power".I was wondering if he was given this power based on the modifications that were done to him by the military or did they only add his metal structure and claws and he already had the ability to heal himself? If he did not have the capability to heal himself until after was modified is he actually considered a "mutant"?

"Born James Howlett and commonly known as Logan, Wolverine is a mutant, possessing animal-keen senses, enhanced physical capabilities, retracting bone claws, and a healing factor that allows him to quickly recover from virtually any wound, disease or toxin. This healing ability enabled the supersoldier program Weapon X to bond the near indestructible metal alloy adamantium to his skeleton and claws."Googling "Wolverine wiki" then looking at wikipedia is hard.

Wolverine's mutant ability is the self-healing (along with super agility and heightened sense of smell). That's partly why he was chose for Weapon X. The alteration was the fusing of adimantium (sp?) to his skeleton and the blades. But as he can heal himself this wasn't a problem. It also leads to the awesomeness that is Magneto ripping the metal from his bones.

Ok, but than what about the female character Deathstrike (from X-Men 2)? Did she have the same mutant abilities as well and then the Weapon X program basically did the same modifications to her?

Doesn't it turn out in some version of the X-Men that Wolverine's claws weren't only due to the metal enhancements but rather were a part of his mutant power?

I recall that as well. they just became adamantiumised. I guess using that logic/storyline, Sabretooth's power was ala Meg Griffin's which would be pretty funny on a large man like that.also why'd these guys skimp on the adamantium teeth?

I'm not an X-man expert but I know that in one cartoon version, Deathstrike did indeed also have the same mutant healing power, which is why she would have been part of the Weapon X program.
