Hello, I'm a new player when it comes to playing small ball. I have Daniel's book (Power Holdem Strategy). What would be the first and for most thing I should focus on from your point of view?

Play small stakes tournies and try to apply what you've learned.

Thanks for the quick response. Question for you. Should I try to apply smallball to a online tourney?

no. smallball is suited for tournaments with slow structures where you have deep stacks.

There is a tourney on Stars at 12EST on Sundays that is an $11 deep stack where you get 5k chips and 30 minute levels.

That tourney should be what you're looking for.

Thank you and the rest for sharing your insight. I see why I get crushed. I usually play on stars in the hubble tournies. I've been trying to apply smallball to the big freeroll tournies. One question when it comes to position in small ball, is it just when I'm the first to enter the pot or on the button or both when its folded around to me? Thanks again for all of your comments.

in pstars freerolls you want to be very aggressive early. go big or go home, it cost nothing to join but to get to the prize you have to wade through thousands of players. i'm talking aggressive to the point of shoving along if there are already 3+ players all in as long as you got dealt 2 cards. if you make it to break with a big stack you can start to be more selective, but don't tighten up too much. you have to make it through 5 or 6 more breaks to get a sniff of the goal.
