Dunno, he probably thought it was funny. Getting only 6-1 I think this is one of those rivers that you can actually fold. You can't beat anything he's betting with. I'd make a note that says "dumbass for that dude :D
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Don't raise A9 except from CO or button. suited or not. Unless the table is extremely weak. He slowplayed a big pair, waited til the river to bet it. I've seen it a million times in the past few weeks. What dont you get?

Im sorry, that's the wrong answer.A9s is a good raising hand against poor opposition. The river call is more than mandatory.

A9 from Middle position? You have fun with that... it'd have to be some really poor opposition.

and you go ahead and be a tight ass and open donk from MP2 w/A9s, we'll see who ends up doing better over 100K hands with it

And when you get 3-bet from CO or button then what? Now you're way ahead of your hand. Even if an A hits you could easily be behind. If you hit top pair with the 9 you could be behind. Or you don't get 3-bet but get some callers. An A comes on the flop and you end up getting called down by A-10 or A-J. I see more negatives to raising with A9 than positives. But please, if I'm wrong explain to me why...or ya know, just keep acting like your opinion is the word of the poker gods...

Against bad players, specifically players that are terrible post flop, it's more likely that you're going to run into some profitable situation (flopping the nut flush draw with 4 callers, top pair against middle pair, ragged board) than it is you're going to get spanked. a9s is a hand I play pretty carefully at most tables, but against players over which I feel I have good control, or who are ultra-bad, I'll raise with it from MP. And I think a lot of people do.Ice

Sure, you end up in a couple profitable situations with bad players. You can also end up in a lot of bad situations with bad players. But against bad players sure raising A9s isn't a bad idea. But some people are apparently saying to raise with it MP all the time. Against bad players sure. Against some semi-decent players, I don't think that's a good idea.
