Shark527 0
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $10+$1 Tournament, 100/200 Blinds (7 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.comHero (CO) (t4100)Button (t6165)SB (t1400)BB (t5925)UTG (t3930)MP1 (t7880)MP2 (t3462)Hero's M: 13.67Preflop: Hero is CO with Q , 5 5 folds, Hero raises to t500, 1 fold, SB raises to t1400 (All-In), Is this an automatic call based on the price? The only reason I'm stealing is because BB is a sitout and could be an easy 300 pickup. I'm leaning on a fold simply because its a good chunk of my stack with a marginal hand. Chet Chetterson 0
Is this a small tourney and we are close to the money or is this a large MTT where the bubble doesn't affect play?Small blind probably does this with a wide range because he is short, you may be priced in but the fold doesn't bug me except for the fact that you are in pushbot mode now. By raising you should already know what to do if SB shoves. But given price, you have to call and you've put yourself in a bad spot.
sennin 0
I think you have to call. I generally dont raise with marginal hands if theres a <10 bb stack behind me (unless it's just him, then i shove atc obv)

MovingIn 0
If you're gonna steal here, make it at least 600. Smallball raises don't work as a stealing mechanism once you're below 30 BB.Whether or not you're "priced in", you're probably crushed by most, if not all, of villain's range if you call. This was a worst case scenario, where the short SB did have enough of a hand to overshove. Your best hope if you call is that, with an M below 5, villain was restealing, knowing the BB was sitting out and that you opened from a steal position. His hand could be marginal but enough given his short stack to go for it. Maybe his hand is marginal enough for Q5s to be ahead. If you think this villain could make that sort of move with a short stack, call. Otherwise, let it go.One thing: Don't let being "priced in" automatically push you into an assuredly bad tournament call for a large chunk of your remaining chips. "Pricing in" is a NLHE cash game pot odds concept that doesn't directly translate: If this were a cash game, you could just re-load. You can't in a tourney. Sometimes you should call off chips with a weak hand when priced in, usually when you're pot committed and you're basically dead meat if you let it go.One more thing: Don't stop stealing just because you're getting short. These sorts of shorty overshoves don't happen often enough for stealing to cease being profitable, and you're hard pressed to survive and stack-build when you stop stealing in LP unless you get extraordinarily lucky. You gotta pay more attention to the stacks your raising into. Because SB's stack is so short, you should only be raising hands your willing to go all the way with to his shove, bc there is a good chance that is exactly what he is gonna do with any 2 in this spot and because of the math your gonna have to call his shove. copernicus 0
This would be an easy fold late in a tourney, because of the stack sizes. 500 doesnt hurt that badly, another 900 does. Early on you have to take the odds.
dscoot 0
Tournys arent always about math plays. Yeah cash game u call here all day.A) Some people like to save those chips bc they feel they are the best player at the table and dont want to give people chances to chip up big. Plus they feel they can get it in at much better odds, perhaps there opponent even drawing dead, later on. C) Some people feel like its an even match with the remaining opponents and therefore should take the price and try to knock them out and win a nice pot.Decide what type of player you are (a/b) and adjust your PF raise accordinglyIf your catA, you should raise to like 425-475, thus making your fold to a reraise a little easier mathwiseIf your catC, you should raise to like 600-750, thus making your call to the reraise easy as shit mathwiseIt also depends on what type of image u are trying to portray for your open raises, cuz calling might help or hurt that cause.
