He most likely flatted a mid-pair here pre-flop so I would lay down the AK unimproved.

was my preflop raise ok? I'm usually uber paranoid of min-raisers esp. utg I wasn't even wanting to raise him and other people say I raised too small.

Ok I know that people's answer is to fold here.Now this is a tactic that I have picked up from some players here and for the most part it does tend to work, sometimes it doesn't, but it does seem to work a high percentage of the time. Insta-shove. This is not about math or if you're ahead or behind, it's just flat out pure aggression. Most of the times players will put out a smallish-feeler bet like that and sometimes a shove will force them to fold their hand. But this has to be on a small somewhat uncoordinated board. You can't really do it with any board. You also would have to have some kind of read on the player. You don't really have to have AK for this play to work.

This early the pot is not worth putting your stack in jeopardy. Maybe if this was later with antes then the shove might be OK to win a much bigger pot.

Id make it 240 pre. I think I fold the flop, although in the later stages of a tourney Id probably shove

Re: shoving the flop. I know that a lot of people do this, because I have picked off bluffs like this many a time. But of course I don't know how many other times I've folded the best hand in such a circumstance. It's hard for me to imagine it's very profitable though: either the pot is small, and you don't get that much compared to the risk you put yourself in, or the pot is big, and it's a lot harder to make the villain fold as he's pretty well pot committed.I do like shoving AK preflop in a wider variety of cases than others might, because you get all five cards to hit and don't have to worry about just these kinds of situations (where you might be getting bluffed by AQ). But only having two streets to hit, and having already given your opponent(s) a chance to see where they stand...not so much.

If it's a smallish pot, I'll gladly let it go. But if there is a significant amount then I'm more than willing to shove the flop over a feeler/blocker bet.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^3 times last night i've got shoved on in 180s, CBing against a single opponent while holding TT+ on baby rag boiards.. All 3 times I called. All *3* times the f*ckers had AK and spiked on me on the turn or river.I blame Gallo.
