All This Sec Vs. Big10 Nonsense.........

Recommended Posts

Apparently some people think these two conferences are pretty even this year. So, that said, I'm taking bets(up to $500 total) that in head-to-head matchups between the SEC and Big10 this year in bowl games, that the SEC will have the better record. Any further details or adjustments to the bets can be handled through IM or PM. Only stipulation is that the bet has to be placed and confirmed before the bowl matchups are revealed. I know that this is a while away but I just wanted to provide plenty of time for you guys to make up your mind. "Injury Outs" are available in any wager. If you dont know what that means just PM me and we will discuss....... GL...... any action?edit: spreads are not used in this bet, only straight action

why do you say this? i thought these conferences were prety even, no?
You're barking up the wrong tree, if you think you're going to egg me into a foolish bet like this. I'm a big Ten almuni, and I think the big ten sucks compared to the SEC and the Big 12. There's no way I'd take a bad bet, backing a bunch of dogs, getting no points, just out of some idiotic sense of conference pride.

Just because I am not willing to bet on the big ten, doesn't mean I lack sympathy for my big ten brethren, and wouldn't want to help steer them away from foolish bets.I do, however, like the moxy of your "Put up or shut up" tactic, as I think many big 10 fans have giant big ten goggles, talk out of their azz, but ultimately will be unwilling to put their money where their mouths are. You should be able to shame some of them, if nothing else. Solid tactic, if probably unprofitable one.

The Big Ten belongs squarely in the Big East/ACC/Pac10 discussion, not the Big12/SEC discussion. I'll admit, the Big East is a little behind the Pac10 and BigTen because we don't have that one top 10 team to go along with the rest of the mediocrity, but we've got quite a few teams that are close to being top 10 in a year or 2.

apparently "anyone" is not everyone though
Only people with biases would take your bet, so good luck and I hope you lose (only if the Illini make a bowl) :club:

I'm a big ten homer but there is no way you will get action on this unless you give odds. i live in fla and can tell you how much of the talent down here goes to either sec or acc schools. besides, this bet would be better if you do it over a 5 year span too. =/

A disgruntled Ga fan who just took their second blowout loss of the season talking smack... hilarious. Shouldn't you be more worried about what you guys have done with that preseason #1 ranking? You should worry about why you aren't making the SEC title game and not about the little ol Big-10.

Anyone who watches college football should know how crappy the Big Ten is.
So is the SEC outside of two teams...SEC looks like this.1a - Alabama1b - Floridathen it drops way off to the second tier...2 - Georgia (beat LSU but got spanked by both AL & FL)3 - LSUAnd everyone else falls way below those two right now.The only difference with the big-10 is there is one less team competing for a title...1 - PSU2A - OSU2B - MSUEveryone else... And here is your recent list of bowl results from Big-10 vs SEC.2004 Purdue - Georgia - 27-342004 Iowa - Florida -37-172004 Minnesota - Alabama - 20-16 2005 Wisconsin - Georgia - 21-24 2005 Iowa - LSU - 30-25 2006 Wisconsin - Auburn - 24-10 2006 Iowa - Florida - 24-31 2007 Wisconsin - Arkansas - 17-14 2007 Penn St. - Tennessee - 20-10 2007 Ohio St. - Florida - 14-41 2008 Wisconsin - Tennessee - 17-21 2008 Michigan - Florida - 41-35 2008 Ohio St. - LSU - 24-382004 was about the time everyone started declaring SEC dominance right? Big-10 (7) SEC (6) wins in head to head bowl games since then. Making this bet based on recent results looks to be a slightly better than break even bet. But I agree with Big-D, if you want to talk smack and offer up bets, lay some points if the SEC is so dominate. If the SEC is so much better... 7 points a game across the board is fair right?

This year, SEC > Big 10This year, Big 12 > SEC.
the SEC is > than the big ten most years. The big 12 being the best confrence is really the aberration, though it really shouldn't be, as Texas has a mammoth amount of high school football talent ( as anyone who's played NCAA College Football for the Xbox should well know). Texas and OU should typically be good, Tech should be good for a while as they are the only West Texas power, no one knows when that A&M sleeping Giant is going to wake up, and OK state seems to be geared up for a nice little run ( though I doubt they have real staying power). If Nebraska can get it's act together, and Missouri maintain it's success, the big 12 is poised for a very strong 5-10 year run here.

No one with half a brain would take this bet with the Pac 10 versus the Mountain West.

Don't be bitter, facts are facts..
I'm not bitter.NW is sliding with the easy Big-10 schedule this year though, and I don't think they can beat any of the top 3 in the conference this year. I would have listed them on the same level as MN, just a notch below MSU.

I'll pass on the road kill, thanks.
Listen, it's not often I get to gloat about Northwestern's football success, so please don't rain on my parade. You've had lots of chances as a Michigan fan, let me have my moment.

Considering NW would beat Michigan this year, I'm not saying shit.
