I like it, for this year the Pistons will have a great scorer in AI, and then next year when Sheed/AI's contracts expire, they can go after a big free agent (Dwayne Wade? LeBron?)

It's 2 years from now when a ton of top players like LeBron, Wade and Bosh are free agents not next year.

Denver needs a leadership guy I think this trade works for both teams.

I say good move for Detroit. Get rid of a ton of cap space, get a name player who will fill up seats and up the tv ratings. Unload Sheed next year and then you can get 2 FA's while keeping the core of youngins like stuckey around.Odd move by Denver though but the Pistons don't care.Word now is McD is not happy and may get the deal nixed.

I don't like the move for Detroit (not looking at it money wise and contract wise). I've always thought of AI as a guy that can score and get some assists but isn't worth the attitude and money. Team wise I thought Detroit was good enough.

I'm not too sure what to make of the deal. Teams trading fading stars nearing the end of their contracts. I guess you can say Detroit wins the financial side, but I think Denver wins the basketball side. Either way I think the deal is meh. Not really that big of a deal considering they are all old (by NBA standards) now.

They were not good enough. It's the same team last year, no improvements, one year older, thus, not a championship team. This team was stale and going nowhere. Sure they would make the playoffs again but so what, they weren't winning it all.JoeD promised 5 months ago today he was going to make moves and get things going in the right direction and this started that.AI won't be here next year. This move is strictly for dumping large contracts to free up space to pick up two top tier FA's. This isn't bringing in AI to win this year.

Melo didn't relaly lose shot attempts with AI in the lineup. An increase in his value would mean wanting to rebound and play defense, neither of which is likely.

But we can assume that a PG like Chauncey will give Melo better looks than AI did. I think this is very good for Denver's D, but it seems like too little too late after they give away Camby. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't Nene and Martin expire in the same year as Chauncey?

A fantastic trade. Why? Because neither team got better or worse. Just different.I feel like Dumars felt pressure to do something, anything.

AI is consistently the most hated on athlete in the NBA. He is an extraordinary player and talent, who does, despite what people think, get a lot of assists and play tough defense ( though his size can limit his ability to do so effectively. People think he's a bad guy and a bad teammate and it's nonsense. He gets murdered out there, night in and night out, and still gives 100 percent. He absolutely kills himself. That Philly team was one of the absolute worst teams to make a finals ( that and Lebron's cavs), he completely carried that team on his back, and played through like 7 injuries, including a dislocated shooting elbow. AI is nails, he is still great (not good, but great) and should provide a spark for the pistons. If he was 6-4, he'd be in the conversation for the best guard of all time. I think he's the best player under six feet of all time.
