PrtyPSux 0 Posted May 14, 2005 Share Posted May 14, 2005 ...LOL! 3 days is all it took for 2/4 to eat me alive, which proves Im impatient and I suck at Limit.on monday I decided to play 2/4 limit with a 1,100 BR, I said WTF less that 30 bb diference, I might as well play 2/4 already and have a bigger bankroll by summer ( I had been beating the 1/2 game for about 2 1/2 months now). So I played 2/4 on tuesday and lost 170, played wednesday lost 170, played today lost 10, so now my BR is at 700 (after 50 I spent trying to recover at the NL table) and Im back to playing 1/2 till the end of summer...THAT SUX! Is it cold cards?basically I think I was overwhelmed with the higher limits, I missed almost every flop, but I still wanted to take down the pot, so I would checkraise and bet the turns with nuthin. other than that, it was mostly badluck and bad beats.... still though, dont you have to drop a limit if you have a huge downswing that takes your bankroll down to almost 300 x bb of the next limit down? DKE_XP120 0 Posted May 14, 2005 Share Posted May 14, 2005 Yeah I recently jumped to 2/4... its quite a ride, the swings are a little rough, by far the most stressfull $60 i've ever earned was today. I lost a $107.50 pot on the river when my kings full (pockets Ks) ran into aces full (A-6 offsuit for 3 bets) on the river, followed by someone hitting a gutshot playing 2-5 soooooted for a raise against my AK the very next hand.Alot of money to be made at those tables, but the variance is a killer. takes alot of patients, but the fish lose in the long run, you just gotta keep playing right and making sure you arent tilting. Whatever 1 Posted May 14, 2005 Share Posted May 14, 2005 I've mixed in some 2/4 while playing 1/2 and .5/1 and I feel your pain. Bad beats hurt so much more when it's $40 of your money in the pot. I just cleared the PokerStars bonus after depositing $600 over there and played .5/1 exclusively this week and did well. It was amazingly stress free compared to the 2/4 at Party. Hey and when you cash out over $1,000 they send it to you FedEx! How nice.I plan to stick to 3 or 4 tabling .5/1 at Party until getting over $2,500 and then jumping back to 2/4 fulltime. 2/3 of the way there. Link to post Share on other sites

When I moved up to 1/2, I had to drop back down to .5/1 twice before successfully making the transition to 1/2. When I tried to move up to 2/4, I again had to move back down to 1/2 twice before succesfully making that transition. When I tried to move up to 3/6, I had to move back down to 2/4 three times before successfully making that transition.I'm now on my third try at moving up to 5/10 and again I'm getting my ass handed to me. I can't figure out exactly why this is, but it's probably some sort of mental block, along with some bad beats followed by some tilt. I know the feeling of not being able to let go of a pot that I would normally drop in an instant at 3/6. The pot just looks so much bigger than it really is. There is no shame in dropping back down to the lower limit to recover and regroup.Ah, well, back down to 3/6 for me again for a while. Yeah, I think that it is because it seems like there is so much more money in the pot in comparison to a lower limit.. Im probably going to move back down, but I just took a guy for like 300 playing NLheads up, so Im going to give it one last shot to see if its just variance. Ill try to get 5 or 7k hands so that I can kind of see how Im doing, if I go back down Ill just move down to 1-2 6 max like Kdawg said. I'll be posting a bunch of hands meanwhile so u guys can help me out on that.BTW, for 6 max, would you just play every hand in SSHE, for the loose table or what? Link to post Share on other sites
