okay i got a NL situation for you all it was final table of this freeroll i was in 8 left everybody folds to the small blind and he bets 3 times the bb bb folds i call with k 8 hearts flop ah 6h 7s okay i pick up the nut flush draw and he checks it to me i supect he is slow playing a big hand because he checks very quickly so i bet 1/3 of the pot to disguise my draw as maybe top pair so if my heart hits the turn or river i can take all the chips he has - so he firgures memiddle pair or a pocket pair jj or something so he smooth calls my bet okay a 2h hits the turn i bet the pot he gos all in and i call he shows 66 maybe i was wrong here but i really like my play for various reasons if i free carded to the turn he may not have paid me off because he would suspect a flush anybodys thoughts ?

if everyone folded to the SB and he raised and the BB folded, how did you call?anyway, fold PF
i saw him at the riverbank. he was breaking bread and giving thanks. with crosses made of pipes and planks. leaned up against the nitrous tanks.
he said take a hit. hold your breath and i'll dunk your head. then when you wake up, you'll be high as hell and born again.

What are you calling any sort of bet pre flop with K 8, suited or not?

(shrug) If he's gonna be a donkey and slow play a set, he's not gonna be an undonkey and give up when the heart comes. What if he checkraises the size of the pot here? Then you're ****ed. I'd check, and hope to see the turn for free. Your draw is already pretty well disguised. He'll be hardpressed to get away from his set here, no matter what.Ice

What position were you in? If you were the BB and the SB raised, go ahead and call. However, you shouldn't be limping in with K8s.

He's not in the BB, he says that the BB folded.

I would never call a raise with K8 unless I was pretty drunk. (shrug) So, probably like half of the times I see it.Ice

It's totally different. It's late in a tournament and it is a great chance for the SB to steal the blinds. I would easily call a 3xBB with K8 suited to protect my blind. You have slightly less than half of the pocket pairs covered, a high card that is going to be higher than the SB bluffers and a 1/22 chance at getting a significant draw to a flush, plus a very likely overcard draw as well.Late in a tournament, if you don't protect your blinds you may as well just fork over your buy in.

yea def no reason to call preflop...if your coming in with K8 you better be rasing preflop...not just limping...your play after the flop and so on was fine but still 8 handed let it go

This is a pretty easy call from the BB, imo...if that's where hero was... :? I can't really tell.I would have taken the free card on the flop. He could C/r and that really sucks.Btw, you don't *have* to call. But in shorthanded games, I call from the BB with K5o from a button steal.

i think it would be better if you could give us some chip counts and what level the blinds were at...and its just me but i dont consider 8 handed that short handed...i usually go with 6 or less...but thats just me

holy crap! are you serious??? if you put him on a big hand why the hell would you bet into him, setting up a check raise? this is retarded! espescially for NL, you give him a chance to outprice your draw....espescially in a tourney that is not smart, i do see your point, about disguising your hand, but imo he is paying you off no matter what so take the free cardyou may not get all his chips this way, but you give yourself a chance to hit your flush for free, and dont set yourself up for an all in check raise, checking far outweighs the bet, although it did work out well this time, i would play it the other way next time....jmho

i know you dont "have " to call but i would because thats the way i play.but seriously i read over of what i said and its really ****ing stupidi should have checked the flop because a bad player will pay me off anyway with a set or even top pair too many things could go wrong-like losing a bet to a check raise-a card pairing the board may give him a full house that may also give you a flush and you will be commited and get busted.i should have just shut up when josh told me the right way to play it.i just got carried away with it because it payed e off that time but turns out wasnt the best play in that situation.i should use that preview function because whenever i post something i want to go back and change it after reading it because its really stupidanyway thanks for the feedback.
