Jordan 1
Before you continue, this does not involve an actual hand. I may not get any replies, but I am looking for advice. If you don´t want to read it cause it doesn´t involve a hand. Don´t. I just didn´t want to post this in general cause there are more idiots there.I have been in GUA. for 3 months. I have not played a lick of live poker. I am returning home May16th. That is a Monday. Thursday there is a $500 NL Buy-in Ring game. The play is 4 hours(yea limited time), no more no less; unless you bust.My question: Since I havn´t played live for so long do you think it would be +EV to sit this out and play in the game? I was planning to sit down at a $100 NL cash game which is known to be a gold mine. My friend made a few k playing this game (about 5k) the last three months. I was planning on playing this game, building a roll, then going to the $500 buy-in. The same players that are in the $100 game are in this $500 game. The man the runs the $100 game has dropped 1.5k in one night...playing max $100 buy-in. What do you think? Wait and get my live game going again? Or sit down and do it?Psychology, I have sat down and played $500 NL before and will take the risks to either double up or lose it. I´m willing to gamble, and if I decide to go the money will not bother me, however, 3 months without live poker is a while...what do you think?I´m leaning to sit it out and be ¨smart¨ for once...but this game is so juicy. Bleh. It really is quick a dilemma for me, and I am looking for sound advice...cause a big part of me wants to do it.Again +EV to take my shot right away at an easy $500 NL game, or take my time and just wait for another chance and play the $100 NL?- Jordan

BeanGW 0
What is this GUA thing you've been doin??? Sorry, I'm bad with acronyms that aren't VP$IP and such...Don't ask us which game to play in man. Only you know what's best for you.If you feel you've got your A game on, and you've played at that level before then I guess it is a good idea to play. At the same time, it's never a good idea to play beyond your bankroll. If you've got like 10k+ bankroll, then have a blast.

The obvious BR thing answer for me is: Just sit out and play the $100. I think that is the line I´ll take...I just can´t imagine how much money will be on this table...I think it will be an amazing night for the winner there.- Jordan

If you've got like 10k+ bankroll, then have a blast.I advise you play the 100 game until you get to know the players and their playing styles. Show them you are "one of the boys." You are going to have to run hot and catch lucky to do well at the 500 game. All it takes is one draw-out, or a misplayed hand, and you are playing catch up.Make moves at the 100 table, and from time-to-time get caught making them. Once players are calling you down with suboptimal hands, you are ready to play some mostly TAG poker at the big game with the same players who THINK they have a read on you.Best,Chief

I´ve talked to my friend about the game. Horrible game, but good for the roll. I guess most is loose play, with lots of raises. I´m pretty sure he just sticks to ABC poker and takes a few chances with the suited-connected cards. But yea, I think I am gonna get comfy in the $100 game. No need to get unlucky off the bat playing the $500. He was telling me yesterday the guy that dropped 1,500 in a night, was going all in blind for $200, called him w- JJ and dubbed up. We´ll see.- Jordan
