Bit off topic but I'm so sick of every baseball writer writing about Yankee Stadium and what the Yankees are going to do in the off season. Seems like last couple days its been non stop Yankee shit, way more than usual. Maybe I need to have more love for the history of the game but I don't care about Yankees stadium getting destroyed and almost 20 teams have been eliminated from the playoffs.

Welcome to ESPN.
Most annoying shit ever.
You STILL hear more about the Yankees than anyone even though they aren't going to make the playoffs.
How about the ****ing Cubs, Angels and Rays? ANYONE FUCKING HEARD OF THEM?? Apparently on ESPN they haven't! Yet they've got the 3 best records in baseball. Not to mention the Cubs have 95 wins, while nobody else in the NL has even hit 90 yet.
That network is a complete fucking joke!
I mean, all the ridiculous shit that happened in the NFL last week, and I'm pretty sure the Patriots losing was the lead fucking story!! Complete JOKE!

I would have no problem with this Dodgers team playing the current Yankees in a playoff series, or having them within the division.
Hank Steinbrenner's sporting news article (here: http://www.sportingn...ic.php?t=462429) makes some decent points, but I disagree with where he is going with this comment : 'I'm happy for Joe, but you have to compare the divisions and the competition. What if the Yankees finish the season with more wins than the Dodgers but the Dodgers make the playoffs? Does that make the Dodgers a better team? No. '
His scenario does not mean the Dodgers are a better team, but having more regular season wins does not make the Yankees a better team either. If one was to review 'expert' opinions prior to the 1988 playoffs, I would say that a vast majority would have ranked the Dodgers a good deal below the Mets team that year, not to mention the AL with the Red Sox and the all-powerful A's team.
His article really does come off as 'sour grapes', although he makes a point to say that is not the case. I also disagree with 'I'm happy for Joe...'; lol, I bet Hank.

You've got to be kidding me. There's sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much on the Cubs, ESPN is on their nuts pretty bad. Not as much as the Yanks or Sox, but still

Maybe more than the Blue Jays. But only thing I ever see is a highlight and maybe once every week or two, they might talk a little more in depth on something. Except on PTI, which I haven't watched much lately, but I assume because of Wilbon they will discuss them more often. But not on Sportscenter.
But for what they've been doing this year, they have gotten maybe 20% of the attention of the east coast teams. It's the same coverage they get every other year, which is bullshit imo.

Maybe you've turned a blind eye into "OMG ITS THE 100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CAN THE CUBS DO IT" garbage they play every week.

On a local note, last night Fred Roggin lead out on the local NBC affiliate with the Dodgers, Usc and as almost an after thought the Angels got one sentence, no video nothin... even though Vladdy hit a go ahead HR in the eighth to reduce their magic number for home field to one game. No respect, won't watch Cocaine Freddy anymore.

Fred Roggan + KNBC are in Los Angeles. The Dodgers are in Los Angeles. USC is in Los Angeles.
As much as they like to claim otherwise, the Angels are not in Los Angeles. And even if they were, it's a Dodgers town, always will be. Moreno tried to make it otherwise, but it would take a lot more then a few years to erase 50 years of Dodgers baseball in Los Angeles.
EDIt: oh, and Angels are really good.

Agreed, however I believe the Angels deserve more than just a one sentence throw in, you know maybe cut out the feel good story at the end of the news and allow an extra 15 seconds to see Vladdy's bomb in the top of the ninth, I also realize that the Doggers clinched and that USC was hugely upset but geez.... The OC market makes up a good percentage of viewers and this century the Angels vs. Dodgers match ups have been no contests. And yeah the Angels are not "IN" Los Angeles but that's not unique. Several sports franchises take on the name of the larger geographical entity they are located near, hell they were California's Angels for many years. Even the OC register had only a tie-in to page 4 on their front page.
On a side note I laid some money on the Dodgers to win the World Series at 8 to 1. Hoping to see a freeway series this year.

Agreed in principal.
It's similar to the Bay Area; ask an A's fan how much coverage they get in comparison to the Giants. Even in the past few years when the Giants have been awful and the A's (prior to this 2nd half) have been competitive, the Giants still get the lion's share of the coverage. Considering the A's have multiple WS titles in Oakland, and the Giants have 0 in SF, the reason I guess is seniority in the area.
Similar to SoCal, where the Dodgers have done almost nothing since '88, and the Angels are a perennial contender under Scioscia.
Heh my brother is in Vegas and called me to tell me he put some $$ down on the Dodgers to win it all as well. Is 8-1 the current line?
