Villain here is 22/15/3.1 over 6k hands, and is a >7BB/100 winner over that sample. He 3bets 4.2% of the time.(For any AP players who might know him, villain is MORGAELIN)My image will probably be something like 28/23, although depending on the sample he has of my play it could be anything from 24/21 to 36/32.Absolute PokerNo Limit Holdem Ring gameBlinds: $0.50/$15 playersConverterStack sizes:UTG: $64.78Hero: $215.50Button: $532.55SB: $70.82BB: $181.38Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is CO with K :4h A :5c UTG calls, Hero raises to $4.5, Button raises to $16, 3 folds, Hero...Ok, assuming for the sake for discussion hero calls (we have $199.5 left):1) Flop: J :D A :ts 7 :D ($34.5, 2 players)Hero checks??, Button bets $23, Hero...2) Flop: K :qh Q :3h 7 :club: ($34.5, 2 players)Hero checks??, Button bets $28, Hero...3) Flop: 4 :D T :qh 9 :D ($34.5, 2 players)Hero checks??, Button bets $19, Hero...

4% 3betting range is pretty narrow but here it's probably much wider: LAG opens from CO and villain is OTB. I think he 3bets closer to 10% in this case. I'm 4betting for value against 10% 3bet range. If you think he doesn't adjust against your lagginess then calling is fine. Why don't you lead on any of those boards?

This is something I don't do enough imo. The only times I lead into the preflop raiser is usually when I have a set or a monster draw, but I feel I should be doing it more often.

Thoughts on preflop are appreciated. How good/bad is 4betting?How good/bad is folding?
I think d0c pretty much nailed it. I'm 4-betting here because you and villain have a decent amount of hands shared, enough to compel me to think that he's 3-betting hands that are worse than the top 4% of his range, given that he has position and youre pretty LAG. If you get 5-bet, just puke and timebank down til you fold.

Since he's in the button, and you're raising from the cutoff, I expect him to be 3 betting a fairly wide range here. Folding here is to weak imo. 4 betting or calling the 3 bet are both fine imo, though I'd probably 4 bet the majority of the time. How do you think villain will respond to a 4 bet? What part of his range will he fold? call? raise/shove?

I don't really like 4betting in CO with button being the 3 bettor and being this deep. I think it turns our hand into a bluff. I don't like playing super deep with another good player super deep to my left either. FWIW he's a decent sized loser on my 600 hand stats with bad pf and raise stats too, which is funny.I honestly think peeling turn and reevaluating is the best play on all of the boards, in hand 3 the bet size is small enough that we are getting the right price to c/c, and if he 3bets our c/r we are kind of priced in to calling and hoping he has JJ or QQ.Hands 1 and 2 we are either WA/WB and in both we have backdoor flush draws.

I think our hand is good enough to c/r on flop #3.
So are you just resigned to getting it in on this flop if he 3bet shoves the flop and praying he has QQ/JJ?

Eh, you beat me too it. I really don't mind a c/c on hand three either. We're getting nearly 3:1. And I wouldn't feel all that comfortable if he shoved honestly (though obviously we're not folding).Other two flops are WA/WB as T said above and I like a c/c.I generally 4bet preflop and at least call. Folding is meh.

Not necessarily, just saying that it's an option. C/C is probably the best line.

I'm pretty happy c/cingI am pretty tempted to c/r hand #3 since we do great except against aa/kk. If he's willing to bluff flop and turn i c/r, if he gives up a lot, i c/c
If we c/r flop in hand 3 what are we doing on the turn if it's a 6 :ts ? What if it's a T :club: ?

unless we're confident he can fold an overpair, which happens pretty rarely imo, I'm c/fingthe 6 is kind of interesting, the Ten is far from being interesting (we're never c/ring a ten on the flop)

WHY DON"T YOU ANSWER THE QUESTION?!?!
wat? What was THE question here? There were multiple questions and I answered the one I felt comfortable with. As OP hinted for each and every board that the default action is check for him, I had a legit question: "why is that?". I donk lead a lot myself and would probably end up donking 1st (depends on read on opponent e.g cbet %) and 3rd because I wouldn't like to play turn & river when they're checked through on flop.

Completely agree with this. And I prefer calling preflop rather than 4betting. We'd have to fold to a 5bet and our hand has a lot of value, despite being OOP.
